does anybody know if a rat cutlery izula's black coating will rub off in food prep? im wanting to take one as a camp knife for food

No, I beat the thing through some hard wood and it didn't even scratch the surface. I have also used it for food prep a couple of times and have never noticed a change in the coating, except for the time I cut through something that had barbecue sauce on it and it left a sticky residue on the blade, but that is to be expected.

I’ve had similar thoughts about using coated blades for food preparation. Some do seem to rub off and I worried about eating the residue. RAT coatings however seem to be unusually durable.

my only suggestion would be stay away from any acidic food as it will rust the cutting edge, being carbon steel.
citris fruit, tomatoe's and such

The same question came up a few months back and the general consensus was that using black coated knives is safe.

It should be fine ,I think kershaw even offers a lower end line of kitchen knives with coated blades in many colors.
