So, I'm saving up for a good camping knife, I like the Izulas, so which should I get? Is the Izula II kit worth buying or not?

They both are. It depends if you would rather have a knife with a bigger handle or not, the blades are the same.

I love the 1 nekked I like the extra handle on the 2. for a camp knife i'd say go with a 2 it would be better for food prep... or maybe get both in different colors to jazz it up :D

Gotta go with the 2. The 1 is king of the neckers (IMO) and the 2 is just a great small knife. I love the handle purchase. Although i have used the 1 for long periods of time with zero problem.

I have both. The I is thin and makes for easy carrying. I like the extra handle length on the II and use it everyday. They both cut like crazy, but if I had to choose only one, it would be the II.

They're both great, the II just has a longer and more full handle. I think the kit is worth getting. The Izula will slide into your pocket and vanish much easier if you plan on carrying it while on duty. It's a perfect EDC knife! Most everyone ends up getting both.

Semper Fi brother!

I think the 1 with scales is plenty comfortable, although for a camping knife I'd go with the ESEE 3.

I was just in the same predicament and ended up with the II. I gotta say, I couldn't be happier. The handle fits perfectly in my hand and my hands are kind of small. I can't imagine working with any less on the handle end.

For edc and pocket carry,I'd go with the original. For camping and such, the 2 might be the ticket, due to the longer handle.

Had the same decision to make about a week ago. I figured that I am probably going to own both at some point, but I went with the 2. Fits my hand perfectly.

I want to customize a 1, so I picked up the 2 so I would have something I could get to work with right away.

The handle size of the 2 is perfect for me.

Like others have said I too was faced with the same decision last week. I ended up going with the Izula in Olive Drab because I narrowed down that I wanted a very thin knife and the 1 without the handles fit the profile better. I don't mind the handle length although I plan on getting a II so that I can try the longer handle and micarta slabs.

Either one will be a great choice, if you want more handle length go with the II, but if you want a slimmer package that is just as capable, go with the I :D

Let us know ;)

I own both, and although I've been carrying my II for the past couple months, in general I end up preferring the original for every day carry. The big advantage the II has right now is that it is much easier to hold on to while wearing gloves.

If you have big hands the II is probably far better. That being said I still greatly appreciate the compactness of the original. The blade is the same on either one, so your handle preferences will play the biggest role in choosing.

Didn't buy the kit with either of my Izulas. Already have some firesteels scattered throughout my gear and that's about all I'd use from the kit.

I'm going over the same decision myself. Threads like this make it hard to select!

The most portable of the two seems like it would get the most use. Although I'm not so sure about neck carry... Still, they both look like great tools to keep on hand.

once you've bought scales for the original, you're pretty much at the price for an IZZY 2.
The kit includes the clip plate, so is a good value.
I like the slightly longer handle and the full scales.
