Does anyone have pics of the Izula II in hand? I'm wondering if the end ring functions as a pinkie ring, or is it just a hole in the handle?

I'm deciding between the Izula with handle scales added or the Izula II. The difference appears to be only about $5. Don't care anything about pocket carry. This one will be most likely lashed to a pack, or it might be belt carried.

In this pic, the hole looks substantially smaller than that of the regular Izula.

I have mine on me and pics coming ... hole is smaller ,I can get my finger in the izula but not in the I2 and I carry it belt sheath wise

I won't be taking photos before tomorrow, but I can confirm that the pinkie finger will not fit in the handle "ring." The ring is only going to work for a lanyard attachment point.

However, the added length makes the handle fit my hand extremely well!

I like my original Izula with the micarta handle slabs. The added thickness of the micarta helps the grip feel "right" for me, and I can slip my pinkie finger in the ring (though to me this feels a bit awkward).

The added length on the Izula-II and the fact that the handle remains thick all the way to the end makes it feel better in my hand. If I had a chance to hold both knives before I bought either, I would have chosen the Izula-II first.

Opinions differ on the Izula regarding bare vs. cord wrap vs. slabs, but I really don't think that very many people will chose to remove the micarta handle from the Izula-II. It just feels so good in the hand.

YMMV

While I cannot say so for sure, the smaller hole appears to accomodate the thickness of metal required to support the scale and for the scale to be strong enough to last. If you look at the thickness of the metal in the ring of the Izzy I, you can tell that micarta that thin would not only not have sufficient strength but be uncomfortable/too sharp in the hand as well.

That said, I REALLY like the Izzy II. It feels like a completely different knife than the Izzy I, more substantial and ridgid in the hand offerring more leverage and control. I find that a reasonable trade-off for the loss of the ability to swing the knife onto the pinky to allow use of the rest of the hand. To allow that, I simply tied a knot in the lanyard I put on it and am practicing using that to replace the Izzy's hole.
