Izula: Knife only or Full Kit?

I want to purchase a Izula from Patriot Knives and I am wondering if I should fork over the money for the full kit or Get the Izula and sheath only, and a Opinel #8. I plan on wearing this as a dedicated neck knife and I live in a urban area so the firestarter is really no good to me. Either way try to sell me to one side or the other.

The only thing that I really need that comes in the kit IMO is the 550 cord( Which I can get ahold of anyway.
 
i had no use for the other stuff so i just ordered the knife and i'm doing fine.
 
i bought the kit, and the only things that i use from it are the paracord and cord lock. but it is nice to have that other stuff just in case, do you need it? probably not.
 
If you're going for the neck knife thing anyway, definitely just get the knife. I bought just an izula (more than once) and I am happy with them. Rockynational.com had them on sale last I checked.
 
With my first Izula (and you will get more than one) I got the whole kit, each subsequent knife, just the knife/sheath.
 
Eloreno Robert from Patriot knives in the dealer sales area are has it cheaper then that site and he gives free shipping to members here.
 
Buy the kit, for a couple of dollars more than just the knife and sheath you get more goodies.
 
If you're gonna get an opinel 8 as well if you don't get the kit then I say don't get the kit. I dont have the kit for my izula, and the only thing I would have liked is the cool firesteel/mag rod, but you can buy those separately.

The opinel is an awesome knife, you need to have one.
 
Get the knife only, and if you want to add anything to it then buy a pair of scales for it. I wasnt sure I would like the scales from the beginning but after I received them I just love em.

Ok, I'm Sold. Gonna get Izula Knife and Sheath only and Opinel. Going to talk to Robert now.
 
Go with the knife or both lol. I personally went with the knife and got the rat fire kit with it. I love that striker,compass combo.
 
Oh yeah, do that! Take the extra bucks you save from buying the Izula kit and pick up an ESEE fire kit with it.

Does the fire kit come with the compass? I thought I read on the ESSE site you had to supply the compass yourself? Maybe I'm wrong, wouldnt be the first time.
 
if you didn't have any need for the extra bits, probably not much of incentive to purchase it that way- but if a molle lok, steel, whistle, etc are things you may find handy- seems like a no brainer

I got some of the whistle ends recently and was pleasantly surprised in the quality (read loudness) of the whistle- it's not Fox 40 loud, but it's a lot handier
