Izula or Eskabar?

I think I need one of these two- not sure which one.
Coming back to the forum for information and guidance.
Your experience and advise please.
Thanks in advance.

I love my Izula--it's a daily carry item for me. Can't tell you how many times I've used it at Olive Garden. :D

I do enjoy the Izula, I bought my wife a pink one. It's very comfortable. I am, however, a little biased as I know the Escabar has the best of both worlds. It has the handle of the Izula and the beefy blade of the Becker series knives. I would go for the Escabar all the way!

I've had both. Honestly, it's a coin flip. They are far more similar than they are different. You can't go wrong either way.

Izula-2 (longer handle and scales)
ESKabar (longer blade)

the izula 2 will have a more comfortable handle out of the box due to length and micarta scales, but cost half again as much as the eskabar.
If you have large -XL sized hands, it will probably be worth the extra $$

If you have medium-large hands, the escabar handle is a good length and I really like the blade size/shape.
my wife has small hands - she loves the original izula, but is not fond of the ESkabar because the balance is wrong for her.

Can't give an educated opinion on either...but the bright orange knifeworks Izula is on my want list.

Having owned and used both, here are my thoughts on these two knives...

Izula remains my favorite EDC blade. This knife has a very good design rom start to finish, from handle to tip. All areas of the design were made to function well together. A handle and a blade need to have a good balance with one another, not just with weight, but with dimensions, length, width, etc. In my opinion, the Eskabar, being a mish mash of two different designs, has a little bit of an awkward feel to it. The blade is bigger than the Izula, but the handle it is not. It does not feel like an extension of my hand when in use.

The izula is a perfect design for me, and would be my recommended choice. Lots of people love their Eskabars though!

You can fit the Izula scales on the Eskabar with an easy modification.

I had the Izula for a few months but ended up selling it and keeping the BK11 and the BK 14 Eskabar. I prefer the Blade shape and the fact that it's a little bigger.
With the Eskabar you get the best of both worlds in my opinion. The bigger blade of the BK11 and the better handle ergo's of the Izula.

Two fine knives indeed. If I had to pick, I'd be going with the Eskabar 99% of the time.

They're both outstanding. Izula's blade is smaller and pointier whereas Eskabar's is larger and a bit (IMO) beefier.

I like the Becker blade better so I'd vote for Eskabar but either will be great.

I have both. I honestly cannot tell you which one is better. The Eskabar is a little less expensive, the Izula has the better sheath. I love them both but if push came to shove I'd go with the Izula. 10,000+ people can't be wrong:D

They're both made from 1095, they both have the same handle, the Eskabar has a larger blade and costs a little less. They are both great knives, though. Personally, I love the Eskabar... That's the one I have.

Both great knives. I personally prefer the Izula 2, or regular Izula. The Becker sheath is simply horrible.

Man, that's fine looking knife. :D

I would have to say the Izula. I've never had a becker but I've had a few Esee and my theory is why fix it if its not broke! :D Izula all the way!

Thanks again. I didn't count but it still seems about evenly divided between the two. Not a word against either. Sounds like both are winners- just have to make the choice.

I'd probably get the eskabar I own an Izula and find the blade just a little bit short for my taste while I dont own a eskabar I do own a bk11 and find the blade profile perfect imo the eskabar is the best of both worlds.
