Izula or folder Izula?

What do you guys recomend? Im new to RAT knives and I like the looks of both...eventually ill probably get both but what should I do now? Wait for the folder or go ahead and get the Izula?
 
You better go ahead and get the Izula.

Plenty of time to save up for the folder. It won't be out for a while.
 
The Izula now, and the Folder when it comes out. It is still a while before than.
 
Get a RC-3.

I know that wasn't one of your choices, but I haven't found my Izula as useful as I was hoping it'd be.

I know I'm the only one, but for my use an RC-3 (or even RC-4) would work much better.

Oh, but I will definitely be getting the folder when it comes out. :thumbup:
 
Joe- What do you do that it isn't as useful for, not trying to prove you wrong, just interesting to hear limitations, I need some convincing to get a 3 or 4.
 
I carry a folder as an edc. A fixed blade isn't comfortable for me, even though I'd love to "Croc Dundee" a bowie on my back! ;)

My fixed blades are used when I go camping and backpacking. For fire making and food prep. I know there are many uses, those are just what I've found I use them for.

I used only the Izula when I built my debris hut for the shelter contest, but that was more for testing the knife then anything else. I liked it, it's just too small for the chores I do out in the woods.

But like I said, the folder would be a sweet edc blade. :)
 
And Spencer, no hard feelings ever brother! I know everyone has their personal preference, and I'd never tell anyone otherwise.

I was just thinking that if someone had to ask if the Izula would be good for them they might not have a lot of experience with a knife like that.

I didn't until I used it. ;)
 
I would go for the HEST. I don't carry my Izula anymore. I still like it but I love the HEST.

With you on that one man! I have also found that mine is just a bit to small for the real chores besides very minor work or food prep. Im looking to get a few more RAT....(Old habits die hard) ESEE knives but I just cant decide if i want an RC-4 and RC-6 Or RC-3 with the RC-5. Just to many awesome knives! Was seriously considering the 5 but now I'm starting to think its a bit to thick for my needs(I usually carry the gransford small forest axe as well.)

HELP?
 
for EDC/ emergency/ superlight use, izula.
General bush chores, 3 or 4.
personally i EDC my Izula as an emergency/backup blade, because having a fixed blade is nice, and while backpacking I'd carry either izula/khukri pair, or just my RC3, depending on the location.

Yeah I know what you're talking about, I don't usually carry my Izula, because most things I do throughout the day can be taken care of with my mini-grip. And it's more sheeple friendly. I just don't get out as much as I would like right now so I haven't had a chance to really put my Izula through the ringer to see what I can use it for reliably and comfortably, versus what I can use it for in a pinch if I have nothing else, and what just isn't a good idea to use it for. And once I do get the opportunity I will be able to estimate what size knife would be best as my primary. Right now it's an Entrek Companion.
And for now my Izula is in my BOB in the car, I KNOW it will fit the bill as a PSK no problem.

You better get the IZula and then get one in every color and still have time to save for the Folder....
 
Joe can I have your Izula then? I have been EDCing mine for a while now and I really like having a fixex blade on me. I still have my folder on me but I at lease know I have something I can truly use hard if I have to. I have been carrying my Busse GW for a few days now and I love the knife as a belt knife but not a pocket knife. I wear Carhartts and slip the fixed blades in the left leg pocket. The Izula only sticks out enough to grab it and the GW sticks out enough to make people ask why I have a knife in my leg pocket. I also have a HEST but it has a boot clip mounted to it and I IWB it on the weekends. All I can say really is get an Izula if you don't like it sell it.

I think there's an unwritten law that you have to have the original Izula before you can purchase the folder.
