Izula or HEST

Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and was wanting peoples opinions on the izula vs the HEST for a necker or everyday carry. Has anyone removed the scales of the HEST and wrapped it? I also have a zt 0301 and the 0100 so I'll be purchasing either a rc-3 mil or rc-4 in the future but am not yet sure which. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
I own an izula and it's great for EDC/neck carry.

I don't own a HEST, but I think that it would fit the same role. The only thing that would be a downer would be issues with the prybar catching on clothing IMHO.

It wraps really well. It just sucks to lose the really cool storage space. If you're necking it, id get a custom kydex. Just smaller.
 
really depends on what size you're interested in carrying...HEST is a bit larger and heavier, izula is more concealable...
 
Size isnt THAT diffrent. Big issue is the sheath is HUGE. Great for molle and belt...little big for pocket, huge for neck. Lots of floks around here will make ya a kydex fold-over thats much better suited for neck or pocket duty.

I don't think the HEST would be to large for neck carry but it seems like it would be way to heavy. It may not bother you, but for EDC I wouldn't do it.
 
Thanks for the replies everyone. I initially thought HEST but I have been thinking more along the lines of getting the izula as of late.
 
I have the izula and have been EDC'ing on my belt with a tek lok, it as most have said is a great knife. If necking it is the way you would most carry it would be my choice. I have been considerig the HEST for the added features and the fact I again would be carrying on a belt rather than neck.
 
Thanks for all the help everyone. I just placed an order for the izula kit in OD and some more 550 cord from New Graham Knives. The items listed as being in stock so I hope their processing time is fast because I'd really like to have it in by the weekend. As much as I like the HEST, I just think the izula better fits my needs. BTW, how does everyone like the sheath that it comes with? I liked the leather sheath made by KSF but I couldn't see laying down that type of coin for a $50 knife. Any comments on the sheath?
 
I love the sheath that comes with it. I use it everyday. The waiting sucks I hope it gets there soon for you.

i was one of the lucky two who won an izula sheath when they first came out. i'm still using mine on the weekends, and any other time i'm not worried about open carrying it. i use mine as an over the shirt necker, currently with a leather shoelace for the necklace and the wrap on my izula. it's awesome. you can always get more izulas later. or a bravo necker or 3.
 
I don't get these constant comparisons. Its like "Pickup Truck" or "Sports Car?" All you have to do is hold each one to get each ones' purpose. I say buy both and peace will reign.
 
I own both aswell and while I love both knives as RYP said you should not compare the two. If you want more of a necker and a light weight edc I would have to agree that a Izula is better and get a kydex sheath for the Izula if possible,not a big fan of the stock sheath but certainly gets the job done. If you want a do it all edc/knife and weight and size does not matter a HEST is a great knife,I have mine on a large tek-lok inside of belt and feels perfect,great sheath also IMO. When it all comes down to it, its not which one you want. Its which one you want FIRST. Both are great knives and you will never regret getting either of them.
