Izula sheaths: Aftermarket?

looks like a kydex pancake style sheath - did you PM the chap? He may have made it himself its fairly easy all you need is some kydex, an oven or hot air gun, a press and a method of attaching the rivets.

I prefer the fold over style as its more compact

If it isnt too expensive I would like to buy one pre-made. If there are no answers by tommarro (which is right now, F, Im going to hit the hay) I will PM him.

That sounds interesting though -I have never considered making my own sheaths from kydex. Know where to buy it?

heres a pic of one i have in OD - didn't make this myself, I'm still on the cheap Black stuff at them moment while I perfect things

Where did you acquire the sheath??
Can you attach tec-loks and belt loop attachments.

I am looking for a folded Kydex sheath that I can try out several attachment methods. I want to wear my Izula on my belt oriented horizontally. I carry it in my pocket now but I like a quick draw option.

you can if you drill the required holes - which i have - will sort a pic soon

this one was made by a chap on the britishblades forum but plenty of guys in the US offer a similar service - try the edcforums

It looks like down in the thread you just let Dyslide know you want one and send him $18 and he'll hook you up.

nice sheath - but I'm still undecided: do I go with leather or with kydex ...

I do think that the leather looks a lot cooler, but the kydex just seems more practical to me. I always prefer a leather sheath for looks, especially if you get one with some good tooled designs. My grandfather is a master leather worker. I wish I had the time to learn the craft from him, but he lives too far away.

Just a little advice from a grizzled leather worker....

Move

If I'd had that opportunity I'd have jumped at it in a split second.

Just sayin' :)

The other thing to keep in mind is all the other hobbies I have. I've also started making knives and I want to concentrate on doing that. Between what my grandfather told me about his dedication to leather working and what I know of making knives, you really need to pick one to be great at and leave the other for someone else.

So was mine, but I only learned a little ... I enjoyed being in his workshop though. And even today the smell of leather makes me feel at home.

KSF sells that Clovis Sheath for around $16 from Sharpshooter sheath systems. It is a basic leather sheath that can be had in black or brown and fits a cord wrapped izula pretty nicely. I'll try to get pics when I'm at home later tonight.

You want be sorry with the sheaths from Dylside. He does a great job!

I share your Grandfathers dedication 100%. You really do have to chose one or the other, theres rarely room for more. I work in the shop at the very least 12 hours a day, theres not room for any other hobby besides knife collecting. I try! But the wife gives me that "I'm gonna hurt you" look and its all over. :o

I've seen that Clovis sheath, very inventive! I like it. :)

That Clovis sheath is cool. I've been considering picking one up, but everytime I look at them I think, "well... my kydex sheath is perfect for my needs and it's never going to wear out so why buy another one." If I get another Izula, I'm probably going to get one.

I say that now. It's hard to buy sheaths.

Kydex sheaths are pretty hard to beat. I picked up the clovis because I have a few neckers and I wanted (including the Izula) an easy option for belt carry once in a while. The clovis also fits a mini-mag flashlight rather nicely.
