Izula Usage

i love my naked izula, it feels very ergonomic without paracord, with it better, with the scales it probably feels AWESOME! but for me i like the naked look and feel

All I can say is buy one and find out the answers for yourself! If you don't like it someone here will be glad to take it off your hands. There are some things in life you just need to experience for yourself.

It's acceptable naked and I can slide my pinkie through the hole although I prefer not to. It's greatly improved by a wrap. No slipping and very comfortable to me. I chose it over similar knives with handles for the slimness when neck carry (a gutted paracord wrap adds very little width). It's also a lot more knife for the money than you'll find from other makers in a similar size. Not to mention super quality and an unbeatable warranty.

My Izula came with better ergos and better grind lines than a similar sized knife from a custom maker. It feels good naked and I have no problems with it that way but I think I'm going to try the after market scales that are coming out.

you could always buy the scales...

For me, i did not like it without the cord, the first thing i did was put a cord wrap on it...

just buy one and if you dont like it, you can sell it real quick

Really? That is a rather bold statement ,(and you even typed it in bold).

Care to elaborate? Just what makes the Izula head and shoulders above "other makers in a similar size"? Can it do things other knives in this size can't?

Convince me and I will buy one. I am serious.

(And I know this is the domain of the R.A.T pack, and this post isn't trolling. Should Hoopster back up his claim I will order one. And post photos of me beating, err using it, here.)

He may be meaning manufacturers and not makers. Your knife is a good one.;) But read my post above, I had a small knife from one of the makers on this board and the grind lines weren't as nice as on the Izula I have.

I also have a BK11.;)

I am thinking it will do anything Hoopster's Izula can do. Say, he posts pics of his Izula in action. And I duplicate it with my BK11.

If my BK11 can't do it, I eat crow. And buy an Izula.:D

It's not a magic knife, which is a common misconception. It's kind of fat for it's length. The stock sheath is very versitle, but I prefer a stripped down kydex for it. The blade is shorter than all my edc folders.

The upsides, it's amazingly fluid in the hand. Wrapping paracord is cool and fun. It's nice and tough. It seems of the 6,000 some knives made, only one has been returned. With a good set of stones, it takes a damn nice edge. It's a robust thick fixed blade, and it pockets perfectly. It's light, fits in the hand, and cuts stuff. All for $50. I like it.

Not trollish at all, it's a reasonable request. Just my opinion, but you get a stout knife in excellent heat treated 1095 with a nice factory full flat grind and perfect edge bevel. Flawless durable coating, excellent size, weight and ergos. Nice factory sheath. All from a company that stands behind it's product, listens to it's customers and makes no nonsense gear.
Delivered to your door for under $47.
I'm not saying other knives won't perform as well or aren't excellent values also but the Izula is hard to beat.
BTW, I don't consider myself an ESEE knives fanboy either. The only knife I own from them is an Izula (3 actually) I sold my RC-4 because I felt the Scrap yard scrapper5 was a better knife for me.

well for one thing the izula has a no questions asked warranty behind it, so when you eat your words you can beat it to death, if you wish, and get another. :D although that is sort of frowned upon, senseless destruction of knives, you could do it. it would take a bit of effort though :D

I'd like to see an in depth test/review on the Izula, and BRKT necker. Something like you described. Have both knives complete the same tasks and see which one performs better. (With a variety of tests obviously)

The Izula is excellent, I dont wrap mine because I use it for food and other gunk, with out wrap its easy to clean. I have never put my pinkie in the hole , I dont think I could use it that way. For me ,the only time I would need a bigger blade is in the woods. And really I still would most likely be happy with the Izula.

They're cheap enough, buy the Izula and decide for yourself which you prefer. I'm sure either will sell quickly if you want to unload one of them. There have been a few threads comparing the two and although the BK11 gets good reviews, I've never read anything that would make me want to try one after the Izula.

do they cost similar amounts? yes.
are there fans for both? yes.
do some of the folks who own both say they prefer the BK11 blade and the Izula handle? yes.
Am I eagerly awaiting the actual issue of the new Beck-zula? YES.

Practically speaking, the Kabar (and other make) Beckers are very nice knives, but the Rowen built ESEE's have an unparalelled warranty and track record for customer service, which adds to their value.

this is also just my opinion, and worth every penny you pay for it. YMMV :)

Oh, and lets not forget RAT's warranty. No questions asked replacement is something a Becker will never do. They dont even cover breakage under normal wear and usage.

ha, you beat me to it vik.

Ethan takes care of his customers as well. I don't think I'll have to eat my words either. Care to take up the gauntlet?

Hoopster....

Just my opinion

And your opinion it is. Nothing wrong with that at all. Several members whom I respect hold the Izula in high regard.

Beat?...probably not. Equal...Yes.

And neither do I.
