Izula w/Scales(for the Wife)

I prefer my AR. Glad I chose it over the mini.

Yea I knew you guys were south paws. My youngest son is headed that way, can do a bunch of things either way but has been leaning towards lefty.

TTD, how has the accuracy of the new mini-14s improved over the older ones. My friend who knows more about firearms than I'll ever know has one but never shoots it (it's probably 20 years old), and he says accuracy after 100yds is a joke. That's what kind of turned me off of the Mini14 platform.

The Mini 14 Ranch Rifle wasn't designed for competition shooting. It's a light, handy little carbine that functions every time you pull the trigger, from a bench using Hornady's 75-grain BTHP grouped just under an inch at 120 yards ,not bad...I have not fired it beyond that, I know it is not a Black Rifle...not trying to compete w/ them either ,it is a fun ,flawless shooting lil' carbine I enjoy & I love the garand style action the platform was built around. almost bullet proof :D
The older ones were not very accurate but if you pick up a 580 series he'd be impressed

I may have to pick up some of that 75 gr BTHP - mine does OK with 62gr HP standing offhand, but I haven't sat down at a bench to see what it can really do.
OTOH, Cabelas has federal "american eagle" 64gr tracer ammo for $1 less than their WWB 55 gr ball ammo at the moment.
I picked up a couple boxes of that for goofing off on the 4th.
