J.D. Smith Dagger

I get the feeling the pictures don't do it justice. At first I thought the handle was odd looking... Now that I know its carved, I its darn beautiful, just for the level of skill that went into.

All that being said, I'm gonna need to see it in person to really tell you how I feel. PM me for my mailing address. =)

Approx how many Strider SmF's would I have to sell to order something like that?

It has a mystical quality about it...

Thanks for the compliments....between 5 and 6 SMF's at full pop. The scratch is not as much of an issue as actually getting JD to MAKE one.

I don't have a passion for daggers and they generally don't appeal to me regardless of quality. However, this one works completely for me. All the different characteristics are subtle but flow together so nicely. Congrats to you Steven that's quite a piece.

My god STeven that is beautiful. I don't like classic looks or natural handle material much, but damn that sure is pretty.

Somehow that seems reasonable. Perhaps I need to start measuring everything in SMF's..

Are you putting that in a safe? Seems like something like that belongs in a case displayed prominently. I could see that piece in a museum or an archaeologists desk--from some ancient dig site.

It really reminds just how much of an art knives can be... its easy to forget when you use them as tools.

I really dont like any of the components of that knife... the dagger, the guard, the handle, in theory. But something about the whole thing really calls to me... So much so I've looked at it now 5 different times. I cant get it out of my head... must leave now.

I'll probably put it in my lock chest with the rest of them, in a nice Bill's Custom Case. All of the knives in my main collection mean so much to me that displaying any one over the others seems like an insult....the longer I collect, more of the makers pass on...DeFreest, Lum, McBurnette....:(

Glad that J.D.'s work is having a strong positive affect on you....that is the BEST result that good art can have.

Congratulations STeven. I think your knife must have muse as part of the alloy.

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks for the well wishes, Dave....like to think that I have provided some inspiration with this piece, but my feeling is, that when J.D. works on a piece, it is him, the work, and a lot of Zen....

I just got home, and unwrapped J.D.'s meticulous bubble wrap job;)....like a very rich and decadent meal, this one is going to take a while to digest, but the initial feeling is one of awe and subdued pleasure...which will build....as long as the handle is, it fits my hand quite nicely, and I don't want to put it down.

JD is one of the very best and has a unique and easily identifiable style. The two pieces of his I have owned were as fine as any I have and that is a very big compliment. I sold them in fits of stupidity.

Steven, you have impeccable taste. I know the wait was worth it.

Thanks, Anthony....that means a lot coming from you!:)
