J.E.S.T Bolo, Member input requested

I'd go with a handle like this:

I hve one very similar to above.
Mine is more of a barong than a bolo.
It's JEST form PI.
I wish I could get some pics on here of it for you.
Great tool and very sturdy.

^ Kind of liking that one although the real proof is in the pudding so to speak. "Enhanced" just a tad to be more weaponized especially in the ergo's.

There is still somewhat of a J.E.S.T program in existence in Subic Bay, Philippines. At least there are Negrito instructors/guides who will take you around. One of them told me his father was an instructor for the US military. The Bolos look like the one Bearthedog has but they all seem to be individualized a bit with different decorations, sizes, etc. All of the Negritos carried them slung off their shoulders in wooden sheaths similar to Bearthedog's photos. It's pretty cool, every adult male I saw was carrying a big knife. :)

I did end up buying one. It cost me 25$ which I thought was a bit much for this part of the world.

The bolos I saw didn't seem very thick to me. I didn't measure them but it seemed like they were less than 1/4 inch. I could be wrong though. I remember being surprised at how thin they were. You also have to consider they are very small people so I don't know if that has something to do with it.

Resinguy, wow that Bolo is real nice!

You guys just HAD to start talking about these again didn't you? Well I love this pattern Bolo and had to make another for myself :) I started with the tracing hatchetjack had sent me and modded it a little to suit me. It came out at 17in OA with an 11.5in blade of 1/4in thick 5160. Can't wait till my next trip to the woods!
