And IMO, an improvement on the heavily fullered and sometimes apparently "upside down" blade designs of some of the German swords that I have seen pics of. That brief period in our history from say 1800 until after the Civil War saw some incredible examples of the cutler's art both in design and execution/ornamentation before knives and swords were replaced as sidearms by mass produced repeating firearms.
 
WOW that is by far the most! beautiful! tribute to a knife i have ever seen!! it is dead on as close to the original as anyone can make a tribute to. you didn't change a single detail to make it your own. WOW it is just down right amazing!!!!!
