Just curious after reading a thread from last June about Joe's sharpening method for the 710. I think I've read some of Joe's opinions on partially serrated blades. I wondered just the same, if the serrated recurve of the 710s would not perform as well in the rope cutting test as the coarsely sharpened recurve on a plainedge 710. Joe? Anyone??

It depends on what you are cutting, how hard the material is and how thick it is compared to the serration pattern. I don't think that Joe was ever trying to argue that coarse ground blades out sliced serrated ones on rope and such, but simply that a coarse edge will greatly enhance the slicing ability of a blade and can make a plain edge cut rope, thick webbing etc. really well.
