Yeah, and my treat was the nice new forge I walked away with, a copy of George's welding forge. Thanks to George and Mike I have a very nice new welding forge, X-mas at Halloween! Thanks guys!

J. Neilson
yep, I'm in Georgeland here.

thanks to george i have a vrey nice unique gas forge.... he's not good with chalk lines but his wleding skills more than make up for the fact that he can't factor in the curvature of a smaller pipe in relation to a burner. but despite that i'm still thinking of brining them some nice home raised beef tomorrow for lunch. Thank you both for the help. much appreciated. i'll see you tomorrow morning bright and early

Yep,I think ol' George has it down pat! And forging at 5 psi, IG is saving himself a lot of extra work. Way to go, George!

DUDES: HammerHead was lucky that he didn't fine himself inside of his new forge. I drew a chalk line on the forge body for the burner and he over cut it by 3/4". Got to watch that little sucker ever minute.   :p

Finally peace and quit. Everyone has left. End up like a mini-hammer- in.
J. left with a big smile on his face. He welded up his first canister and finish two other billets and brand new welding forge.:D :D ;)
Not bad for two days of work.

J. I just ratted you out to Tess. You forgot the extra hot Churico. And I told her you were messing around with Bertha the last two days.:p :p :p

Yep, Bertha's a sweetie. If you ever mistreat her I'll have to steal her away from ya!
:D
Yep, I had a great time. Thanks to George, Mike, Joe (Joe Cable?), Gary, Jerry and Larry. We've got a hell of a good crew with this NECKA club. These are some of the nicest, most open and generous folks I've evr met. Thanks again, George and all.

I'll post picks of the forge with the shop tour I'm hoping to post soon.

its was a good fun weekend, jay sure knew how to make the most of it. up at 6 working like a mad man he managed to produce a good ammount of product, his forge isn't as UNIQUE as mine but it'll get the job done. Thanks a lot for the help jay hope we can get some more necka members down on a regular basis

That is what it is all about. This is one of the main reasons we founded NECKA to assist follow members in the expanding their art of making knives.
This was forge weekend put Jerry's forge together and relined my welding forge today. I should go into the forge making business. I have made a total of seven.

Indian Forge and Joe Cable... there's a scary dynamic duo!
 ;)

Hey Mike, good amount of product is right. I forged out 3 blades (a hunting claw, tracker & crook-back) out of that canister weld alone. I didn't even mess with the other two billets yet, that's tommorow.
:D
It's amazing what you can do with a hotter-than-hell forge and a press. It's not a violent as my Little Giant but, boy can it work, no doubt.

Hey Cheesel or Joe Cable, you are going to find a piece of that cable sticking out of a spot where your mother never kiss you. I am glad that I have a ring sound in my head because it beats that whistling sound that happens when the wind blow through your ears.   :p
J. The canister billet kept together well?? Did you forge it at welding heat???

did you have anything left over from the canister billet for guards or spacers? when you get a chance, try to show us the etched product. i'm interested in the pattern.

I had no troubles with it holding together when forged. I could only use my first forge since I didn't get the ITC yet for the one we made. It seems very tight.

I had enough left that I thought I'd make a guard for one of the two larger blades but, it ended up being large enough to forge out a crook-back.
:D
I'll post pix soon. I'm planning on having these for the Ohio show.
