I had the pleasure of meeting a fella named Jack Chick today. He has a little sharpening shop on SR415 near Daytona. I had been meaning to stop in their for years & I'm glad I finally did!
Mr. Chick hand makes knives in addition to sharpening them. He has a great selection of good, extremely sharp thin carbon steel blades - I had to pick me one up while I was there - it has ~5" upswept skinning blade, a handcarved wood handle (I think he said birch - not certain) and a small brass handguard / brass pommel
The knife will be a great hunting knife. To top it iff it came with a snakeskin leather sheath. For all of $50!!!
Mr. Chick says he was a Navy Corpsman. Of the WWII variety making him what, 80yrs old give or take?!?! He was workiing in the shop when I pulled up. What a great guy!
I strongly urge anyone in the Daytona are to stop by & see Mr. Chick sometime. He's on SR 415 just south of Hwy 92. You won't be sorry you did
