Why is it that these once well respected knife makers have ruined their name by not delivering on payed orders? Are their any other custom makers that should not be dealt with?

If you happen to see Dale Reif selling knives again, you should avoid him like you would the plague.

As to why they do it? In my opinion it is because they have no integrity and the ethics of an Enron executive.

Thanks for the advice and that is quite funny. :D

But why did they start out as legitimate and honest individuals and then turn crooks?

imho by taking money down on knives and then probably getting short of $$ and instead of shipping to the original buyer who put the $$ down they sell it elsewhere to make some $$ since the $$ put down is long gone, or in other words financial problems.

my opinion of course maybe something else happened but i would say this is close.

another reason to never pay for a knife before its done imho. maybe with a established well known maker on a custom 1 of a kind i would put down a small % to show i really want it/etc, but i would never pay up front for a knife, it is a favor imho, keeps them from getting in trouble........
