Jack Crain Mail Fraud Update .u.s Postal Inspector's Letter

Dear members,
I would like all you members to know that mr JACK W.CRAIN have still not sent me the machete that i have paid for, and further more would like to bring you up to date with U.S POSTAL INSPECTORS taking action against mr JACK W .CRAIN for mail fraud.

The info i have provided u.s postal inspectors with on mr JACK W.CRAIN has been entered into U.S POSTAL NATIONAL MAIL FRAUD COMPLAIN SYSTEM.

Having been sent a letter by u.s postal inspectors on 18/Dec/2003 , and a copy to mr JACK W.CRAIN, Mr JACK W.CRAIN has been informed by the U.S POSTAL INSPECTOR'S that he has until 18/1/2004 to send me the machete that i have paid for. Failure to do so would mean mr JACK W.CRAIN would be investigated by the U.S POSTAL INSPECTOR'S for committing mail fraud which i believe is a serious offence.

Unless mr JACK W.CRAIN sends the knife that i am respectfully owed , i will be letting the local authorities know of mr CRAIN'S mail fraud practices. He has until 18/1/2004 to comply.

Below i have shown the original post from me to all members regarding mr JACK W.CRAIN.

DEAR MEMBERS,

THE REASON I AM POSTING THIS MESSAGE ON THE FORUM IS I WOULD LIKE EVERY ONE IN THE KNIFE INDUSTRY TO KNOW ABOUT MY DEALINGS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS WITH JACK W.CRAIN.

ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO I TALKED TO JACK ABOUT GETTING A SET OF PREDATOR KNIVES FROM HIM. HE MENTIONED THAT THESE KNIVES WERE MADE IN THE MID 80’s WHEN THE MOVIE ‘PREDATOR’ CAME OUT, IT WAS A LIMITED EDITION SET. AS WE TALKED ABOUT THIS HE MENTIONED THAT HE HAD KEPT ONE SET IN A SAFE PLACE WHICH HE HAD GIVEN TO HIS DAUGHTER FOR LONG TERM INVESTMENT.

HE GOT IN TOUCH WITH ME SOON AFTER AND SAID THAT HIS DOUGHTER WANTS TO GET MARRIED AND SHE WOULD SELL THE KNIVES. AFTER MUCH NEGOTIATIONS WE AGREED ON $9000 DOLLARS.

WE AGREED THAT I SEND HIM $6600 DOLLARS OF 440-C STEEL THAT I HAD IN STOCK HE WANTED, ONE FOLDER OF HIS CHOICE ($750) AND $1620 IN CASH(U.S DOLLAR MONEY ORDER). I SENT HIM EVERY THING .

THE DEAL WAS THAT I GET THE KNIVES WITH IN 2-3 MONTHS. I HAVE NOW WAITED 2 YEARS AND OUT OF THE SET ( THREE KNIVES ) THAT I HAVE PAID HIM FOR, I HAVE ONLY RECEIVED THE TWO SURVIVAL KNIVES ( HUNTER & MCS ) . HE HAS NOT SENT ME THE MACHETE THAT IS PART OF THE DEAL AND PART OF THE SET.

THE TWO KNIVES HE SENT ME WAS ONLY THANKS TO MY FRIEND ‘ANDY PRISCO’ AMERICAN TOMAHAWK COMPANY, WHO SENT JACK W .CRAIN-MAILS ASKING HIM TO SEND ME MY KNIVES . EVER SINCE I RECEIVED THE TWO KNIVES I HAVE SENT JACK W.CRAIN MAY BE TWO HUNDRED EMAILS TO GET HIM TO SEND ME THE FINAL KNIFE AND THE WALNUT DISPLAY BOX THAT THE KNIVES SIT IN. I HAVE PAID FOR ONE COMPLETE SET.

JACK CRAIN WILL NOT SEND ANY REPLIES TO MY EMAILS OR RETURN MY PHONE CALLS. FIRST OF ALL ITS NOT THAT HE HAS TO MAKE THE KNIVES, THE KNIVES WERE MADE IN THE MID 80’s , AND FURTHER MORE HE HAS COMMITTED A FEDERAL OFFENCE( MAIL FRAUD ) BY CHARGING ME FOR PRODUCTS THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TWO YEARS AGO AND STILL WAITING FOR.
I DON’T THINK IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK JACK TO SEND ME WHAT I HAVE PAID $9000 DOLLARS FOR.

LAST TIME I CHECKED WITH U.S POSTAL SERVICES MAIL FRAUD WAS CONSIDERED A FEDERAL OFFENCE.

I HAVE FILED A MAIL FRAUD COMPLAINT AGAINST JACK W.CRAIN


I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL BLADE FORUM MEMBERS AND FRIENDS FOR READING THIS STORY AND POINT OUT THAT I AM NOT INTERESTED IN DAMAGING JACK CRAIN’S REPUTATION , ALL I WANT IS TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE MY EXPERIENCE OF DEALING WITH JACK CRAIN AND THE WAY HE TREATS PEOPLE,AND FURTHER MORE I WOULD LIKE JACK TO SIMPLY SEND ME MY KNIFE.

ALSO MY CONDOLENCES TO ROB SIMONICH FAMILY.I HAD TALKED TO ROB ON MANY OCCASIONS AT KNIFE SHOWS. VERY SORRY TO HEAR THAT HE NO LONGER IS WITH US.

I will keep you all updated in the near future.
I have been advised by the u.s postal inspectors that if i have not recieved the knife that mr JACK W.CRAIN owes me by the 18/1/2004 they will be taking this matter further. I am sure when the u.s postal inspectors find out how many people mr crain has ripped off , they will want to know every thing about mr JACK CRAIN FRAUD PRACTICES.

This is not going to go away.
Very soon mr jack crain will find himself in so much legal problems he will not what to do.

I thank you for reading my post. It's not that i have anything against mr Jack crain, all i want is to get the knife which i have paid him $9000 dollars for.

I am going to expose you jack. I am going to expose you to the knife industry and further more i am going to make sure that from now on the u.s postal inspectors are on your case, i am also going to get other u.s government agencies on your case.

TO MR JACK CRAIN:
It would be foolish of you not to comply, send me my knife which i have paid you for and i will put a stop to all the legal problems i can put against you. your choice.

Farid, I would like to ask if you have any comments about what Jack emailed to me in regards to this situation? Did you read his email that I posted in your other thread on this matter? Jack states that you did not send him the quality of steel that you told him you were going to send. What is your position as far as this is concerned?

Thanks for replying. the quality of the steel i sent mr JACK CRAIN was an american spec ( AISI 440-C ) it is standard 440-c steel that i bought from a reputable steel company some years ago, since i bought the steel the company has closed down. This steel is exactly same as what is used around the world ( AISI 440-C ), It heattreats to exact specification,it has exactly the same alloy contants as ( aisi 440-c ) quite simply becouse it is the standard spec 440-c .

Mr JACK W.CRAIN has not sent my knife as yet, i know that becouse i have not recieved the knife or the shipping info.

I have been making knives for a long time , and i can tell you i have never treated a customer like mr JACK CRAIN has treated me in the last two years. Almost 99% percent of all my customers are in the u.s , now that's may be 6000 miles away from me. I have always delivered, never have i treated a customer from anywhere in the world in the way that mr CRAIN has treated me .Making me wait for something that was made 15 years ago, all he has to do is to ship it to me.

Mr JACK CRAIN asked me for my $750 dollar folder, asked for my $6600 dollars of 440-c steel and $1620 in cash and i sent him everything.

All he has to do is to send me my last knife .

U.S POSTAL INSPECTORS had already given mr CRAIN untill 18/1/2004 to send me my knife, after that i will be getting mr JACK CRAIN in to more legal problems than he can handle.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
It's not the first time on this or any other forum that Crain's name has been mentioned for bad business practices.
On the other hand Farid has made his knifemaking career cloning another makers knives and it used to be fun to watch him cringe at the NY Custom Knife show when the other maker would look at him or walk towards his table. We would stand around the other makers table watching and laughing.
 
Dave, I'm going way out on a limb taking this guess here, but is Emerson the "other" maker by any chance?;)

I guess you could check out farid's website and look at the folder too see if your guess is accurate.

I hope this matter is resolved. Waiting for 2 years for a custom is acceptable if you haven't paid for it. Waiting for 2 years after paying for it is unacceptable. Heck, even 2 months is unacceptable.
 
I find it interesting that Mr. Mehr is airing his grievance here on BF. My only interaction w/ Mr. Mehr was at a NYC show where he was less-than-polite to me and had a few unflattering things to say about BF (circa 1999).
