DEAR MEMBERS,

THE REASON I AM POSTING THIS MESSAGE ON THE FORUM IS I WOULD LIKE EVERY ONE IN THE KNIFE INDUSTRY TO KNOW ABOUT MY DEALINGS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS WITH JACK W.CRAIN.

ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO I TALKED TO JACK ABOUT GETTING A SET OF PREDATOR KNIVES FROM HIM. HE MENTIONED THAT THESE KNIVES WERE MADE IN THE MID 80’s WHEN THE MOVIE ‘PREDATOR’ CAME OUT, IT WAS A LIMITED EDITION SET. AS WE TALKED ABOUT THIS HE MENTIONED THAT HE HAD KEPT ONE SET IN A SAFE PLACE WHICH HE HAD GIVEN TO HIS DAUGHTER FOR LONG TERM INVESTMENT.

HE GOT IN TOUCH WITH ME SOON AFTER AND SAID THAT HIS DOUGHTER WANTS TO GET MARRIED AND SHE WOULD SELL THE KNIVES. AFTER MUCH NEGOTIATIONS WE AGREED ON $9000 DOLLARS.

WE AGREED THAT I SEND HIM $6600 DOLLARS OF 440-C STEEL THAT I HAD IN STOCK HE WANTED, ONE FOLDER OF HIS CHOICE ($750) AND $1620 IN CASH(U.S DOLLAR MONEY ORDER). I SENT HIM EVERY THING .

THE DEAL WAS THAT I GET THE KNIVES WITH IN 2-3 MONTHS. I HAVE NOW WAITED 2 YEARS AND OUT OF THE SET ( THREE KNIVES ) THAT I HAVE PAID HIM FOR, I HAVE ONLY RECEIVED THE TWO SURVIVAL KNIVES ( HUNTER & MCS ) . HE HAS NOT SENT ME THE MACHETE THAT IS PART OF THE DEAL AND PART OF THE SET.

THE TWO KNIVES HE SENT ME WAS ONLY THANKS TO MY FRIEND ‘ANDY PRISCO’ AMERICAN TOMAHAWK COMPANY, WHO SENT JACK W .CRAIN-MAILS ASKING HIM TO SEND ME MY KNIVES . EVER SINCE I RECEIVED THE TWO KNIVES I HAVE SENT JACK W.CRAIN MAY BE TWO HUNDRED EMAILS TO GET HIM TO SEND ME THE FINAL KNIFE AND THE WALNUT DISPLAY BOX THAT THE KNIVES SIT IN. I HAVE PAID FOR ONE COMPLETE SET.

JACK CRAIN WILL NOT SEND ANY REPLIES TO MY EMAILS OR RETURN MY PHONE CALLS. FIRST OF ALL ITS NOT THAT HE HAS TO MAKE THE KNIVES, THE KNIVES WERE MADE IN THE MID 80’s , AND FURTHER MORE HE HAS COMMITTED A FEDERAL OFFENCE( MAIL FRAUD ) BY CHARGING ME FOR PRODUCTS THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TWO YEARS AGO AND STILL WAITING FOR.
I DON’T THINK IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK JACK TO SEND ME WHAT I HAVE PAID $9000 DOLLARS FOR.

LAST TIME I CHECKED WITH U.S POSTAL SERVICES MAIL FRAUD WAS CONSIDERED A FEDERAL OFFENCE.

I HAVE FILED A MAIL FRAUD COMPLAINT AGAINST JACK W.CRAIN


I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL BLADE FORUM MEMBERS AND FRIENDS FOR READING THIS STORY AND POINT OUT THAT I AM NOT INTERESTED IN DAMAGING JACK CRAIN’S REPUTATION , ALL I WANT IS TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE MY EXPERIENCE OF DEALING WITH JACK CRAIN AND THE WAY HE TREATS PEOPLE,AND FURTHER MORE I WOULD LIKE JACK TO SIMPLY SEND ME MY KNIFE.

ALSO MY CONDOLANCES TO ROB SIMONICH FAMILY.I HAD TALKED TO ROB ON MANY OCCASIONS AT KNIFE SHOWS. VERY SORRY TO HEAR THAT HE NO LONGER IS WITH US.

While not necessarily being "Politically Correct" in his use of capitalization. . .his story is well documented, easy to follow, quite understandable and lacked a buncha whiny emotions.

I don't know. . .I found it easy to empathize with Mr. Mehr's position. . .even though he cap'd all of his letters.

I think Farid has to be a MUCH more patient person than I would have been. I have been known to wait much longer than this for a custom made knife, but not without regular correspondance from the maker. This is really uncool of Mr. Crain. If I had to guess, I'd say Crain sold the missing piece to somebody else. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
 
I have waited much longer as well, but these knives were ready to ship when the payment was made. Mr. Crain should get his act together.
 
Let's hope a court of law will get Farid the relief he deserves, in the event the other guy continues to dismiss him.
 
A negative post like this would ordinarily do a great deal of harm to a knife makers business,,,unfortunately given Mr Crains target market (hollywood) it is unlikely to affect him,,,the bucks will keep rolling in and the honest collector gets ripped off.
He's obviously a PREDATOR who makes bad EXECUTIVE DECISIONS who should COMMAND-0 respect!!!!:D :D :D
 
I have been in the custom business for over 20 years, between 1988 and 1991 I acquired three different collections, between them there were over 30 knives by Crain. Many one of a kinds,all FINE in quality. I can tell you that anytime I went to Texas for shows I would have atleast 20 people tell me the horror stories about dealing with Jack. One gentleman told me about driving to Weatherford, Tx,to Jacks front door,and threaten bodily harm to get his money. It is a great shame that a Man who has the gift of creation, treats others the way he does.
 
I hate to say this...........but you should have done your homework, its common knowledge in the knife world that jack crain is a crook! :(

Hi Keith,

Thanks for your nice note about Farids postings.

Farid called for years during the 1990s and wanted info on making knives and I gave of my time and helped. he has emailed the past few years and finally ordered a Standard non serial number (not a limited edition) Machete and wanted the word Predator left off for what ever reason. About the time the knife was being completed he decided he wanted a Limited Edition set of three knives that came on the market that I was sell. Farid was given credit for what he paid for the standard non numbered knife and he said he did not have the money for the higher priced set....and wanted to trade one of his knives and some very fine 2" and 3" English Steel that was worth about $5000. I agreed to accept mostly the 2'' as I use it and have sold some steel in the past when I buy allot. The steel arrive and it was not the fine English steel He said it was and the 2'' could only be used if the sheared edges were trimmed and then it was not 2'' only about 1 3/4'' I emailed him the day the steel arrived and told him it was not acceptable at the price he quoted as it was a poorer quality steel. In all the emails Farid has sent me he has never replied to the Bait and Switch he pulled on the steel. Regarding the knives he was to receive. They were made in 1987-88 and were stored. The MCS serial #02 and the Hunter serial #02 were sent but the Machete serial#02 has a bad scratch across the blade and I kept it to repair it. I have been having health problems...just getting older but ill non the less and let Farid know this. I started the repair and in the process took off the word Predator that he said must not be on it which was hard and then changed his mind and wanted it on this knife. Before I completed the repair I got sick and could do no work for several months....in fact I have been only able to complete about 7 knives this year. I was taking several prescriptions and some would not work with the others ..but I am doing better now that the Dr. have got me on some that seem to work together. There never was any doubt that Farid was going to receive the Machete #02 I just needed to complete the repair.. I have notified farids rep that I will mail it this Thurs 12-18- 2003.

Farid has emailed me many times (yea I printed them out) on how he disliked all the knifemakers at the New York knife show and how they threatened to kill him...yea Kill Him...I now understand that Farid is a narcissist and it is all about Farid. No human compassion just Farid is always right and everyone is always wrong. Farids knife will be sent the 18 and then the only one pulling any fraud is Farid.

Also the story about someone coming to my door is a outright lie.... I have only had one Mail fraud complaint. I searched my records and had nothing on the guy but after they investigated the guy admitted he had really Never sent any money or any order at all.......You are free to call the Postal inspectors to verify that and any one saying anything different is just lying or as some have told me just a, jealous maker is spreading that lie.

I do not have a problem with you reprinting this if it is reprinted in its entirety and not taken out of context.........thanks again for your concern.

I WAS SENT A LETTER BY THE U.S POSTAL INSPECTION SERVICES WHICH I RECEIVED TODAY, DATED 18 DEC 2003.
THERE IS A COPY OF THE LETTER THAT WAS SENT TO MR JACK W.CRAIN , IT CLEARLY STATES THAT MR JACK W.CRAIN HAS 30 DAYS FROM THIS DATE TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER.
ALTHOUGH MR JACK W.CRAIN HAS ALREADY POSTED A REPLY ON THE FORUM AND SAID THAT THE KNIFE WILL BE SENT AT THE LATEST ON 18 DEC 2003. TODAY IS THE 30 DEC 2003 AND THE KNIFE HAS NOT YET ARRIVED , I CAN UNDERSTAND WITH CHRISTMAS PERIOD IT COULD TAKE COUPLE OF DAY MORE.

U.S POSTAL INSPECTORS HAVE ALSO INCLUDED IN, A FORM FOR ME TO FILL IN AND SEND BACK TO THEM . IF MR CRAIN HAVE NOT SENT THE KNIFE AS HE SAID HE WILL ON THE 18 DEC 2003 I WILL HAVE TO NOTIFY THE U.S POSTAL INSPECTORS USING THE FORM, I AM SURE THEY WOULD THEN BE INTERESTED IN MR JACK W.CRAIN'S BUSINESS PRACTICES .
I THANK ALL THE MEMBERS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS.
