Just found a Jack Crain Predator MCS I bought from him in the mid 90's. It has a 95 stamped on it so I'm not sure if that is just the year made or a series numbering. Is anyone out there familiar with these knives and have any idea of the value? It also has the original sheath that Jack made. I'm really sorry to hear what Jack turned into as he was a pleasure to deal with years ago.

I know they go for over a thousand dollars (from the ones I've seen for sale). Are you looking for a buyer??

.........but I always wonder how this happens.

1)People are dumb and
2) don't read OP dates or
NOT often
3) English is not the primary language

....THAT's how it happens, and frankly as a group, most either ignore it or perpetuate it in an accepting manner...until that changes, stupidity will prevail.

Actually, I was wondering how the quoted part happens. I have seen this many other times where someone "finds" a knife that they forgot they owned. In this case, it was a large hollow handle Jack Crain knife. How does one forget or misplace a knife like that?

That's easy, you stick it in a place that you THINK you will remember, maybe an EOTWAWKI spot, and then, don't play with it or look for it for five years, and then have an AHA! moment.

Happens to everyone.....I've done it with a half case of Black Hills .308, and then again two years later with three bricks of Federal Gold Match .22.

I understand what you're saying, but discovering an expensive, somewhat rare, Jack Crain Predator knife is a little different than misplacing some ammo.

To play devil's advocate, a half case of Black Hills .308 was worth over $600.00 when I found it and weighs over 20 lbs.....how is that different?

I've discovered a couple of pretty rare guns I inherited from my grandfather (that I could have sworn were appropriated by my uncle after he died) sitting in a box that had been under my dresser for at least five years, including an old 1934 Mauser and his Colt 1911A1. I did a little happy dance when I opened that box and discovered those treasures. It does happen. :D

Obviously, to you there is no difference, but to me, a handmade Jack Crain Predator knife is a little more distinctive than a half case of production ammo. I guess it depends on how much stuff you own. Perhaps the OP has hundreds of custom knives and the Crain knife got pushed aside.
