Just curious as too how many people out there have been ripped off by Jack Crain? Gave him a hefty deposit back in 1987 or 1988. He never delivered, and claimed I was notified when my knife was ready. Not so, I have the paperwork and his voice on tape to prove it.

Just saw your post on Mr. Crain. I was not ripped off as bad as you, I at least got my knife, but it was 4 years late. I had the MCS model, as used in Predator. I probably spent over $100 on phone bills trying to get my knife. When I finally got it, it was sub par and not worth the money I paid for it. Since he got kicked out of the guild, it wasn't worth anything either. I sold it at a knife show for less than half what I paid. Live and learn I guess.

Ya' Know, some guys get there knives in a movie or a TV show and all of a sudden their
**** don't stink.............

Hey tknife, that's probably my MCS you had. At least you got something for your money. I was hoping to find others who had paid, and not received anything. I guess he figured since I live in Canada, it wasn't necessary to actually deliver anything. That's the only time I've ever been ripped off in my knife dealings.

I thought I would never see my money or the knife, so I do feel kind of lucky. It paid to call him at least a couple times a week, sometimes everyday! You didn't miss out much on quality either. The Lile hollow handle knives are way better.

Hi again tknife. It came to the point where I knew that calling him was just a further waste of my money. He would come up with some BS excuse about his mother, or himself. When Tactical Knives first came out, they ran a picture of Crain's knife, so I sent a package containing all the information I had on my order to Steven Dick, who a couple of issues later featured it (without names, of course) as his editorial. He pretty well made it clear that I was at fault, and that "the maker" was pretty well at "God" level, and had to be telling the truth. It took a few more issues, but wouldn't you know it, he had received at least one more complaint about Crain, and he was willing to concede that maybe there was some truth to my story. Proud to say I haven't bought another issue of Tactical Knives since that first editorial, but I sure enjoy reading it in the store.

When I was having trouble with him, I sent a letter to TK also, but never got a response. I had wanted that knife since first seeing Predator, then I saw it featured in one of their Hollow Handle knife articles with Jack Crains address, so I ordered it. I came close to ordering 2 of his knives at the same time! I'm glad I didn't. I got the same stories about either his parents or himself being sick or something similar. Glad to say all my other dealings with custom makers was much easier.
