Jack Daniels Question

As far as really great bourbons go-- if you ever have a chance to try anything of the Black Maple Hill or Pappy Van Winkle-- well, it's worth a shot. But they are lotsa $$$. Still, if you have a nice anniversary present coming, maybe your wife will get it for you instead of the leaf blower...........

And I second Gollnick's post about the Johnnie Walker Blue.

Hey gollnick it sounds like you're the resident alcohol expert here. Do you have any opinions on Makers Mark? I'm not a huge whisky drinker, but I do like it every once and a while. Normally I buy jack daniels black label, a while back I gave Makers Mark a try and thought it was delicious.

Maker's Mark is good. Sure. But I'd sooner spring just a few extra dollars (and it is just a few) for Knob Creek or Woodford Reserve.

Knob Creek is aged in Maple wood. It absorbs some of the maple flavors (no, it is not like drinking maple syrup. It just absorbs a little bit of it.) and a lot of the maple sugar. It's a sweet bourbon. I often have it for desert.

Woodford Reserve is lighter but has wonderfull fruit and even vanila tones in it. And I can tell you that it's Madagascar Vanila. It's a favorite of mine too.

Another real good, tasty and still mellow, sipper is Basil Hayden's... a wee bit stronger flavour than Woodford's, but equally as good.

And for desert... I'll take a Baker's 107 over lite rocks for oogling the young women swirling about the bar...

:D
