Jack Wolf Knives- Any Good?

Great knives. Great owner. Fun company. I did a January challenge this year... carried JWKs for the full month. It was great getting out of the normal comfort zone. Edit: I literally carried a JWK everyday in January (and they are in my normal rotation). Did I go survive in the wilderness for 10 days with nothing but my FeelGoodJack? No, but basic daily tasks were handled with ease. V vinprom let’s be honest, most of us are just opening packages, cutting thread / tags and slicing food.

I am a fan of traditional knives with modern steel and recently discovered Jack Wolf Knives. It seems like all of the reviews posted on YouTube are sponsored commercials with nothing but praise without any actual use. I’m curious to hear people’s opinions about Jack Wolf Knives from people who actually spent their hard earned money on them and has actually used them.

Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with these knives?
Underline is mine. And I am waiting, and waiting, and waiting.......

I will say, I have done a good amount of research on these knives and there is no doubt anymore that they are extremely well made. I have one on order, the Vampire Jack with Nebula Fat Carbon.

I am trying to stop buying knives, but these seem to be in a different league from any other modern slip joint.

You could make the argument for Viper or Lionsteel, but from what I’ve seen Jack Wolf Knives are better made. I need to have one in hand though, so time will tell if my opinion stays the same. After all this is all just speculation until I use it and carry it for a bitz

They're very well made, but there's also this thing that is hard to describe about them. I have this weird feeling that all the high-end Chinese knives share the same DNA. An abundance of titanium, high-end stainless, and glitzy carbon fiber, mokuti, and synthetic handle materials. And while the styles may be very different, all the high-end Chinese knives seem to rhyme if that makes sense, and something about that bugs me for reasons I can't fully articulate. Like the Chinese OEMs glommed onto the Instagram knife aesthetic and then keep hitting the same button with all the speed and fury of a professional Starcraft player trying to up his actions per second.

Yeah it isnt going to replace my USA made traditional at all, but I will feel less bad about putting the Jack Wolf slip joints through beater type work. Chinese knives do seem to share a similar DNA. They must share manufacturing processes and etc amongst eachother in China I bet.

Never owned one. When i looked up video reviews, most of them are unboxing videos. I was turned off by the amount of garbage that comes with them. It seems like a lot of aesthetic marketing towards a generation that collected pokemon cards. I’d prefer them to lower the price and keep the “swag”. Thats just me though. I like victorinox, douk douks and opinel for my folders. I still have my pokemon card collection too.

Id watch choirboyz outdoors if you want to see a review of someone using jack wolf knives. I agree with the sentiment, but at the same time 99% of knife reviews are essentially unboxing or tabletop

They are lowering the price, to $199 with their next drop; the steel series. It’s essentially the same knife but instead of titanium they use steel. Still pricey but it is $100 off.

I’m sure they are fine knives.
I just mentioned it to illustrate that after seeing how much junk comes with them i decided to pass.

I mean it comes with a wiping cloth, which ill use, a well made leather sheath, which ill use, a tiny cardboard pog chip, which isnt adding to the cost, and an aluminum tube, which most traditional users or slip joint users keep (aka gec tubes). You may also get a sticker.

Most knives you get come with a sticker nowaday, so are you saying the cardboard pog is the additional junk? Or are you just saying you won’t use a leather slip or the wiping cloth?

I dont think the actual pog is increasing the price that much but the willingness for people to spend that amount of money because they are getting it which keeps the price up. I think the additional cost is in the marketing and the “unboxing experience” which is not my jam personally.

I have a ton of cloths and am personally annoyed when i get one and i dont use sheaths with pocket knives but that is also a personal preference.

Ah well I guess if you don’t use the slip and you have too many wiping cloths it could seem like a bit of a waste

I've just watched the video from July 11, and in 2:18 the guy made a statement that the Jack Wolf sent the knive to him for reviewing, and that he will review it differently from all these unboxing reviews. Still looking for somebody to share eperience after prolonged carry and use, not just testing/trying.

I am very biased and concerned in regards to Chinese products that require tight tolerances, because they made their first ballpoint pen in 2017 after many years of trying and government push and investment - it was all over the news. I am still not sure whether they made just a single specimen, or started mass production.

I remember using ballpoint pens from China in the early 2000s.

I assume you must have a reference for the 2017 comment.
