So much has been said about the bonds that form and the kindness and generosity that flows through this forum. A couple weeks ago, I got enamored with the Lambsfoot knives folks were coming up with and in that thread, mentioned that "I might just have to get me one of those". Today, I got a package from Jack Black. This is a unique example with very translucent horn on the mark side and dark on the pile side. It's a very nice example. I can see now why folks get wrapped up in these fine old tools. Of course, Jack included this very cool old penny and postcard from Sheffield depicting a commemorative 1822 blade knife made in 1882 by Joseph Rogers & Sons. It's one of the strangest things I have seen in awhile;):)
Thank you again Jack. You're the best:thumbsup:

That's Jack, spreading the wealth, along with his knowledge and generosity. Around here a package could be called a "Jack Black."
Lucky you Alan, and to JB way to go.

Glad it made it across the pond Alan, welcome to the Guardians! ;) Hope you come to like the pattern

The Year Knife is now up to 2000 blades. Stan Shaw made a few of the last ones, including the 2000th, which is silver. He has also taken it apart for cleaning a couple of times, and told me he cut himself a few times on those sharp old blades.

Thanks for the kinds words Alan (joeradza) :)

Thanks Alan and Jack. I can't imagine the patience and the persistence it must have taken for Stan to take an 1822-2000 blade knife apart.

Me neither! :D He said he had to take it home with him, and it weighed a ton! :D

That horn is lovely. That little lambsfoot is a great looking knife. Yet More Jack Black generosity :)

Always nice to see

Alan, what a lovely Lambsfoot - captivating scales, and a mirrored blade too!

JB's a top bloke and a fine ambassador for Yorkshire cutlery and culture!:)

I look forward to seeing more of that one over in the Guardians of the Lambsfoot thread, Alan, my friend.

That is an awesome knife Alan, just beautiful! Great story. Just makes me smile.

Thanks guys! I am enjoying it and will keep posting it. It seems like an easy knife to carry and use.

Congrats on the gorgeous knife! Great act of generosity Jack! These kind of stories are what makes the porch such an awesome place.

Beautiful knife, Alan - looks like it's lit up! Great story, too - very generous Jack! As for that Sheffield Year Knife; well, that is another amazing story...but I wouldn't want to bump into one of those in the middle of the night!

Wow, that may be the most beautiful horn I have ever seen on a knife. It makes the knife simply gorgeous. I love that translucent effect. Do they know which animal that horn came from?

:)Alan the photos are not showing on my phone at this time but Jack is an absolute Legend.
I'm so so glad we have Jack in our lives here - he's one hang of a nice guy- I'm proud to call him a mate and just look at what he does!
Well done to both of you Gents

What a beautiful knife from quite the stand up guy. Nicely done, gentlemen!
