Thought I would share my latest creation with you guys, dang thing sold in 7 min:)

Spec's:
CPM154CM
Heat treat in house @ RC 60
Triple Grind-Flat grind
.200" thick
4.5" long blade
4.25" long Handle
.187 thick coyote brown G10 handles bolted down with acid etched steel chain-ring bolts
Hand-rubbed to 400 grit and then long term acid etched for a matte finish, and hand rubbed with scotch bright pad.

I like everything about that one. Cool sheath too, the scalloping is a nice touch.

I have to ask...

How do you do the etch? It is the finish I've been looking for! What kind of acid for how long over what type of finish?

The finish works different with all diff types of steel. I use ferric chloride, This Being CPM154CM it turned almost black then you have to scrub it with a scotch bright pad or 800 grit sandpaper because the finish just out of the acid is not very durable. the color under that layer is much darker than the normal steel color and is much more durable. Oddly on other steels it works much different. I 440 or 302 stainless both etch like high carbon. Cool finish all in all.:)
 
I'm making something similar at the moment. but can only dream of getting grinds as crisp and intentional as that.
