great pics bud. my fiance and i are going there in december for our honeymoon. we had a great deal on it. wasnt my first choice but the price is right. i may need some tips on what to look for and what not. can you pm me your email address? also i figured you would be able to find the blue mtn coffee much cheaper there or did you really pay 30 USD for that pound of the very best coffee around? lol
I'm probably not the best person to ask. I stayed on the university campus in Kingston all week and didn't venture into Kingston on my own unless accompanied by my hosts. My hosts were adamant that I survive until the trip back.
If you are going to Montego Bay then everything is super safe there. I'm told they have a lot of entertainment venues and there are some classic jerk centres available for good food. Montego Bay will be much more expensive than the countryside. It is funny, whenever we stopped at a fruitstand, my host in a jokingly manner would ask me to stay in the car for the first 2 minutes until they negotiated a price. He told me that "your complexion magically doubles the prices and the roadside stands". Then he does a funny imitation of me saying "How's it going" in his interpretation of my accent that some how sounds like John Wayne. We were just kidding with one another but there was some truth to his words.
If you decide to venture outside of Montego Bay, it would be useful to get a guide. Don't cheap out and go on a bus. Get a personal guide to drive you about and show you things. It will cost about the same as a bus tour but be much more personal and enjoyable. There are some gorgeous rivers and jungle scapes over there. While, I'm not very keen on Kingston and its dangers, the interior of Jamaica is a spectacular place.
