I have a pre-1976 w/Ivory scales hunter blade length 3.6 L.O.A 8.75 in like new condition.What woud be a good asking price for the knife?

I take for granted its marked "Hand Made by James B. Lile".
Do you have a sheath for it? How's it marked?
Are the guard & pins brass or stainless?

Stag or micarta hunters regularly sell for $400-500 on Ebay.
I would add another $100 for ivory.
