I am driving up tomorrow to pic this beauty up that James made for me, then I will send it to Claude Scott for a proper sheath. Let me know what you think and I will add more of my thought once I have it in hand.

From the shop: We just put the final polish on your Trout & Bird, and this knife is simply incredible. The high carbon 01 tool steel blade is forged out to 4 1/4” with that razor sharp convex grind. The nickel silver guard is soldered in place above black, maroon, aluminum, copper, horsehide and a musk ox boss spacer as well as the hand selected sambar stag butt. Overall length is 8 1/2”

Outstanding, Kris! A great knife by a great maker. I can't wait to see more.

Drop-dead gorgeous, Kris. That musk ox spacer in the middle adds a very cool, unique touch, and you know how I feel about stacked leather/stag combos.

Coincidentally, the shop contacted me today as well, with a few pics of mine that is just getting finished up. Still have a little bit of a wait for the sheath that is being built/tooled, but here are the pics they sent me.

4" blade 01
8-1/2" Overall
Sambar stag and maroon micarta

I highly doubt this will be the last knife I order from Behring Made...

Thanks Gary!

That is a real beauty SH! Thanks for sharing. I will take a few pics of the shop if they allow.

That would be great to see some shop pics, if you can, Kris.

My Better Half occasionally travels to Missoula on business, I might need to tag along next time and make a little detour...:D

Wow, both knives are outstanding! And that musk ox spacer is exquisite! It looks iridescent or opalescent in the photos. Very nice!

Will these be users or for a collection? It would almost be a pleasure to be a bird or a trout on the receiving end of those. :D

Mine will definitely be a user, Robb. I think it's going to look even better with a well-earned patina. And given its size and blade shape, I don't think its usefulness will be limited to small game, either.

Thanks Robb, mine will definitely be used. More for trout than bird, it will pair nicely with my, made for me, bamboo fly rod from the Master, Glenn Brackett.

There is something about James' knives that I just can't stop staring at. For a relatively young knife maker, his talent is seriously impressive. Having a talented knife maker as a father was no doubt a positive influence, and it's really cool to see a son keeping the knife-making tradition going, with his own unique direction.

I've been liquidating lots of stuff lately, and so the 'slush fund' is healthy right now. So when this little beauty came up for sale I couldn't resist. 2nd Behring on the way:

"Mini Sharptail"
2-1/2" blade of 01 Convexed Steel
6-1/4" overall
Sambar Stag

I blame Kris for all of it. :D

This thread is chock full of gorgeous knifes.

Motivated me to visit the Behring website.

KNIFEDOM KNIRVANA!!!

As Stephen said, works of art!! These pieces just draw you in with their beauty. Looking forward to seeing more!

Those are some super cool knives. I really like the look of the mini sharptail w/ the copper. The bird/trouts have a bigger belly than I imagined when I read the title. I agree w/ one of the other posters that they could be used for larger game.

All outstanding knives, wow!

Wish I had more of a need to carry a fixed blade, I'd want one of those for sure.

I had a great time at James' shop today. We talked for a couple hours and could have talked longer but I had to get back to open my shop, quick trip(220 miles round trip). For a young man, he has a lot of talent and is very business savvy, definitely has a heck of a future in knife making. I was so engrossed in conversation that I did not even think about taking pics. The shop is small and efficient. I gifted my Lloyd damascus stag swayback to James, I hope he enjoys carrying and using it. My knife fits my hand extremely well, nice solder line on the guard and overall very well built. I handled both of Smithhammer's knives, he has a lot to be excited about. Here are a few pics and thanks for everyone's replies. I will post some sheath pics after Claude works his magic.
