James Behring Jr. Bird and Trout/Claude Scott sheath

Hey Kris, thanks for the kind words. It was great having you by the shop today and you're always welcome to come back.

I might as well start at the beginning otherwise. My name is Grant Cunningham and if you ever give Behring Made a call, I'll be the one answering the phone or giving you a shop tour. I've been working for James Behring for just over two years now and getting to learn the craft under James has been and is still an incredible experience, but getting to run the customer end of things is just the icing on the cake. Any and all are welcome to come by the shop in Missoula, Montana at any time- just shoot us a call.

That being said, I might as well show off my Behring Made pintail with a 3 1/2" 01 tool steel blade. Until recently this was my EDC- I'm carrying a new Behring Technical but more on that later. I put this knife into my first buck, countless fish, millions of boxes, and plenty of steaks and it's still the one I'm wearing come banquet season.

More great knife pictures!

Thank you for sharing.

Does Behring have an upcoming knife show in Missoula this spring or summer?

Do you attend the big gun show at the Adams Center at the University of Montana?

Thank you.

Cate

I handled both of Smithhammer's knives, he has a lot to be excited about.

Oh, man. One of them shipped today - it's going to be all I can do to not be compulsively checking the tracking link 50 times a day... :D

And it's great to see such a well-used Behring Made!

You always have some beautiful blades! Great photography skills too. Scagel would be proud, grumpy probably, but proud. I've always loved Jim's work, I am glad that he did not go full tactical. I've seen both his traditional and tactical work and was blown away.

Wow, congrats Kris, that looks like a real beauty, and doubtless a very capable tool. Love this Scagel-ish style, really pushes my buttons.
SH, you must be incredibly excited, you lucky dog!
Grant, welcome, and thanks for your input and for showing your Behring Made Pintail. I really dig the copper fittings on yours, it's a nice touch, subtle and unique.
This thread has me drooling. I'm definitely longing to have one of my own. Some day I'll make it happen. Until then, I'm going to enjoy them vicariously through you's guys. :D
Thanks again!

At this point we don't have any local shows on the books for the summer, but you're always welcome by the shop. Give me a call at 406-926-1193 beforehand and I'd love to show you around.

Here is a quick pic of the sheath that Claude made for me, beaver tail inlay. Claude also made me a little elephant skin slip for my Johnny Stout folder. I will take better photos later, thanks for looking.

Thanks Jerry, Jeff and Woodrow, I appreciate the kind words.

Jerry, the weather has been gorgeous lately.

An appropriately beautiful sheath for that fine Behring, Kris. I keep finding myself compulsively going back to their site and dreaming...:D

My Trout & Bird should be here any day now, with a tooled sheath from Glacier Leather Works...

I have wanted one for years and years as well, and just got one secondhand, a beautiful Trout & Bird. Pics are the seller's.
I'll post my own photos in a week or two when the knife comes in.
