I truly regret having to post an ill tiding concerning James Healy, but it's been several months and no sign of payment for a sheath that I had made for him. Most of my sheaths are custom anyway but he also requested one just a bit different. I made the sheath and shipped it to Australia which costs a bit just to ship it there. Time goes by, and I see this post of his to sell the sheath I made;

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=97544

I emailed him about it and he said he had a great offer on his knife and couldn't pass it up, so he sold the sheath, not a problem as things change but I never received payment.

I emailed James several times with lack of response, I emailed him a few weeks ago warning him that I was going to post on this forum as I didn't see any other recourse. He replied to that email, said it was his fault and would get a money order right out. Still nothing. I emailed him a few days ago to just check up and no response.

So today I emailed him and told him that I would be posting here on the Good Bad and Ugly, BUT, that I would Title it with just his name and if he makes good on his word and the money order arrives I would edit this post accordingly to help preserve his good name.

I hope this does end on a good note, as everyone else that I've dealt with here have been more than fair and honest.

That was, and is a despicable thing to do!
It's a shame that this had to happen to a person like Gary, because he is so trusting. Those of us that have done business with him know this, and now the rest of you will know... Gary sends out his sheath orders without receiving payment first. He is so trusting, that he will wait for his money, and now this had to happen to him.
See Gary, you cut people a huss, and they stab you in the back.
Gary, I would like to pay for the sheath, or split it with someone, but either way, your going to get your money.:)
Keep the faith buddy!

Thanks Bob, but certainly not necessary, isn't anyone elses duty to pay except for James, but I appreciate your thoughts....

With luck James will pull through and make it right.

I'm with narruc on this one!

I had a money order I sent to Gary for a sheath go missing:eek:

I was far more worried about it than he was. I was ready to go buy another in a couple days, but Gary said "no, lets wait and see if it shows".

It never did and I sent another (and will get my money back for the first) and Gary was an absolute gentleman about the whole thing:)

If the money does not show I'm willing to kick in a few bucks to help make up his loss.

This just ain't right:mad:

I have seldom if ever posted here to GB&U, but I will in light of this thread.

I have known and done business with James Healy for almost two years. I sent him a loaner knife for a trip about a year ago, at no charge, worth over $550 (today's market value). He returned the knife as promised, upon receiving his backordered model, as at the time, I had a good-faith based "loaner" program for folks waiting on backorders.

I don't know James' current situation, but I do want to mention that the experience I just outlined, as well as all others I have had with him (and there have been several), have been excellent.

Thanks for posting Andy, I had always felt that James was
a stand up fellow from reading his posts, so I didn't worry
about this order. I don't know what is going on in his
life right now but it is holding him back a bit.

It's quite different reading a GB&U post about yourself, especially when it falls squarely in the ugly section.

I'm posting this because i feel i should, not because i was asked to.

I wanted to apologise to Gary openly, because i have deprived him of something that is rightfully his, potentially causing him problems. I have sent the money this morning, and Gary has said he will post here when he receives it. This is more than i expected after breaking his trust.

To certin people i just wanted to say - I understand, to a point, some of the emotions which motivate posts like that. I never set out to deceive Gary, or to steal his sheath and not pay. I am an honourable guy, i would never do something like that. Please try to understand that, and maybe not bother posting in non constructive ways.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this.

James

Hi Ryan

Actaully, originally i did send the Money Order, but Gary never received it. After that there were personal issues in my life which i'd rather not discuss which prevented me from sending it again at that time. Hopefully this issue is resolved partially, and can be closed off when Gary receives the money.

I want to compliment Gary on the way he handled this post. He was professional, to the point and without hysterics. This doesn't surprise me though since Gary is about the most stand up guy I have every met on the forums.

Just a side comment. I have always tried to do the honorable thing with my dealings. I would say that most people would probably agree with me. I have however, rarely, not met my expectations once or twice. Like I said, I always try to do the right thing. I believe James when he says what he posted and this is one of those times (rarely) that it backfired. Making it right is always the hardest thing at the end but the right thing. We all look forward to when G2 post that his MO arrives.

2 good guys here....I also know that Gary would give you the shirt off his back (please don't Gary, I'll get a visual! ;))and he deserves his payment which sounds like he will get it soon.

Sorry for rambling.....

I'm glad you're coming through on this one James. I know for a fact that Gary fretted quite a bit about posting this here.

I think Kodiak is right too, that sometimes good people with good intentions don't always do what they should. Just the fact that James posted here speaks well for his character. I can forgive a lot if someone actually apologizes and makes things right.

I was going to just edit my top post and let this thread ride off into the sunset but with the additional posts as well as Jame's post, it wouldn't read right after those, so I thought it'd be better to bring this back to the top and let all know that a money order arrived last night from James, our mail service didn't treat the envelope to kindly, there was a tear across one end but they taped it up, the contents wasn't even crumbled....I figured it would have fallen out but luck held and My Thanks to James Healy as he did come through as he said he would.
Thanks to all who have spoken on this thread.
