Mike, Kevin, and Fellow Forumites,

I posted this in the memorial thread this morning, but with it going on 11 pages now, I fear that it might get lost in the shuffle.

How about if Bladeforums makes a special run of James K. Mattis Memorial SIFU's? We could donate the profits to Jim's family and even earmark part of it to go to his favorite charity. We could present Blade #1 to Toni along with the check. It would also be nice to have something in the $25 to $40 range for people who want to contribute but can't afford a SIFU. How about a special run of knifebags, hats, or bandanas?

I received a very nice e-mail from Tiffany Betts. She is the Customer Support/Tech for Chai Cutlery. She said that she would be very interested in purchasing one of the SIFU's. I find it hard to believe that she would be the only one.

What about it guys???

I have one of the BF2000 Special Edition D-2 Sifus on order.

I would be very supportive if they stamp a dedication to James Mattis on the blade, and if a percentage of the profit goes either to a James Mattis fund, or donated to the family's favorite charities.

Hopefully, Mike Turber and the REKAT people will consider this.

I like the idea, but think a puuko type knife would be ideal for a memorial to James. The way he liked them so much. I already mentioned this over in this thread on the Camillus forum. James and I had chatted about it a bit the last time I saw him on IRC.

I think Rockspyder is right.... A Puukko is a logical choice. One with the "Chai" logo printed somewhere on it.

I'm in.

Sometimes I catch myself assuming that everybody knows their way around a pocket knife. Then I remember what the first three letters of "assume" are.

I second the idea of a puuko style knife. These seemed to be a favorite of his.

I think that for James, a Puuko is the only way to go. Good idea Rockspyder.

UPDATED and REVISED

For James, a Sifu, Puuko, or BM 940 are the three knives that come to my mind. I like the idea of a JKM memorial knife, used to cut something peaceful first. There have been several special edition Sifu's already, so a different knife might be worth considering. I, for one, and many others who will miss James, would be very interested in purchasing one.

Hey Guys....

Lets not forget the BM Nimravus which James named!

If something is done with a Nimravus I'll kick in for a custom sheath...

If someone wants to make a memorial blade I'll sheath it!

Any takers,, email me..

I'd pretty much have to say the same thing: Nimravus or Puuko, or even Sifu, I'd want to be in on it.

That is a great idea. I think James would like it. Especially the charity part. Count me in.

A Pukko is Jim... He turned me on to them... Count me in for a Pukko!

I'm in for a Pukko, it would be a fitting tribute to James, and I'd be proud to own one in his honor. I especially like the Chai logo idea on the blade.

Great idea Jim and Iktomi. I would love a puuko. I am there, too if this can happen.
