James Knives or The James Brand

This isn't new....

I worked in the Brewing industry for a number of years during the first big micro boom of the 90's.
You would be surprised how few "breweries" actually make beer!
most are just marketing companies trying to create/push a phony brand.
it's all about advertising....
you can pay for a fancy piece of paper to hang on your wall. Whole sectors of academia are based on this.
learning a Craft is different.

Actually making (knowing) real stuff takes Blood, Sweat, And Tears..... a different kind of learning.

I'd rather support a company who thinks about what kind of polishing media they are using in their tumblers....
Not a media like Tumblr with their polished fancy smiles :/

It's a hipster brand. I don't like their knives, or their marketing, so I'm clearly not the target market. LOL

I concur. In that I haven't had an instagram or facebook account in over a year, I'm definitely not their target audience. I joined bladeforums to help make informed decisions on knife purchases. I don't need social media sales bull crap.

I've never had a facebook, twitter or instagram account. I guess I'm nobody's target audience...since Morse code stopped being a thing. :p

But I do enjoy excellent craft beer.

I use to enjoy craft beer until my transplant.

I tell you what, in many ways my medical ordeal has made me an old fuddy duddy, despite only being 42. Was forced to get a new cell phone, purposely got one without 5G. I go from still wanting to be into tech stuff but at the same time hate it. I hate modern mainstream music. Could be my conservative roots showing? Yet at the same time I haven't cut my hair since March 2020. Trying to say F the man yet still be cool? Not in 2021. I guess I'm just a confused man in the youth of old age. Or is it the old age of youth?

I appreciate wickettedge wickettedge taking the risk of both disappointment and criticism here and actually stepping up to the plate to give us an assessment of the build quality. As Admiral Farragut said "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!".

My own take reflects that of many that have already weighed in. While I appreciate some of their aesthetics, the marketing they use makes me cringe... I by no means live an exciting or eventful life, but I most certainly have my own little adventures that come about on a daily basis without the help of a particular pocket knife.

I try to build my daily carry items around my particular circumstances, and what I might be up to that day. Not what some schmuck says I need to have in my pockets. I think EVERYONE should carry a knife with them, no matter what you do. After all some sort of cutting implement has been in the humanoid tool bag for far longer than there's been modern humans... I remember buying into marketing hype in my adolescence, thank goodness I've gotten past that.

I do like the blade shape, the sheepsfoot with a bit of belly is nice. It looks good, steel is good (hopefully) and the lines are very smooth. It's expensive though, like close to double the price it should have been. I'm also waiting to hear how it cuts, specifically how thick it is BTE which was a big failing of the first Lionsteel Barlows. Thankfully forums are the only form of social media that I do so there whole marketing thing goes right over my head.

40, disabled and ditto other than the hair. Oh and I carry a Nokia from 2013. You're not the only one. :)
