He was definitely the good of the good. I remember the first time I visited his website. I couldn't believe how different it was compared to so many web knife stores. Incredible warmth, and a great dose of selflessness, along with a rich love for "different" knives. I've worked in Finland and have many Finnish friends, so his love of Scandanavian and Finnish knives was heart warming.
It was easy to see that James wasn't selling knives just to make a profit. He had a great love of knives and knife lore and it showed in the knives he chose to sell and in the way he did business. He was definitely a rare individual. And his death is a tragic loss to us all. And sometimes you don't realize how lucky you are to have someone like James around until it's too late. He was a true gentleman and those are a rarity, especially on the internet.
