January 12th Gathering At The JK Shop

Made it home safe and sound. It was just starting to sleet when I arrived at my house.

Good time, Excellent Chili from the Boss, and lot of great knives!

Thanks John and Connie for another fun gathering!

Pictures follow later.

Thanks again John for having me over:thumbup: it was great to meet you guys and I was able to finally have a JK in my hand :D and I can honestly say everyone of John's knives I picked up felt good there:eek: If I had the money now I would already have an order in. Hopefully I can get a JK of my own very soon:)

Andy, I looked through some of your photos.
Was that a chisel ground JK, with a scandi grind on the the other side?

That is wicked!

Looks like you guys had a great time.

Man I wish I could have been there. Last year about this time John and I were sitting right there having a chat. I owe John big time for that.

Hi Cooper - Yes - that is a knife that John made a while back and has shown off occastionally.

1/4" chisel ground 01 JK Steel , with a two-color micarta handle scale treatment that gives a bolstered effect.

I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures - phone pictures are all I could muster for this gathering.....

I caught the new higher-speed Amtrak heading south parallel to I-55 on the way up to Mokena.

I checked out the JKBOG and found this nice camo tactical oven mit / beer cozy. Nice!

The Boss and John provided delicous chili with cheddar cheese and oyster crackers. It hit the spot on a cold day.

The pile of knives in the box of miscellaneous knives for Hanna has grown to be quite a load.

Some Busse products, a very heavy duty JK, and the original viKtim zero abuse passaround knife. I'll do some good pictures of it in a follow-up post.

I had another great time - very simple, just good friends, good food and time to spend with both.

It was cool ,and got colder as the day went on - but we had chili, some good natural cased hot dogs from outdoorsfan, and plenty of beer and spicy apple juice to keep everyone toasty.

I look forward to the next Gathering!

Thanks for the pics Andy.

One day we will need to do a west coast get together. Hopefully soon I will not need to run as much as I have and will be able to play a little.

Yeah John. You were a life saver holding onto that for me. And returning it to me the way you did. I won't ever forget.

Quite the cutlery table as usual.

Jeff

I would do it - I was out there last year on my bike - I want to get Maggie out there to see your part of the country in the next couple of years.

Planning on trying to make it to the next gathering in the future as I dont live too far away. John you and I have done some trading and some business in the past and now unfortunatly I feel like we may have a lot more in common. Would love to be able to talk to some of you sometime. - Joel

Looks like everyone had a good time. Thanks for sharing pics with those of us who were only there in spirit.
