The 100 series is my favorite, being a traditionalist and an old fart. The 118 was my first Buck knife and is my choice out of the series.
Here is my first and last 'purchased' 118s. The Lucite one was put together, by Leroy Remer from parts gifted me...thanks Craig DOGPOUND77 .

I"ts no secret the 118 is my favorite hunting blade. I don't have any pretty ones. I did get Buck to work on the barrel nut but have any photos since getting it back

Model 118 3-line inverted c.1972. As a collectors piece they don't come much nicer!

The 118 makes it's first appearance in the 1954 catalog as a 'named' standard model. It was called the 'Personal' because it was Hoyt Buck's personal favorite knife pattern. Due to health reasons Hoyt was out of the business after 1947 and died in 1949 so we know the pattern was used very early on.

A 2014 Smoky Mountain exclusive. The model 118 limited run of 200 in D2 steel.
I was pleased that I received an odd error knife. Buck/Custom was accidentally stamped
on both sides of the tang so they had to move the D2 stamp sideways along the spine.
