Japanese small sword

Thats a myth really. I have had two blades polished and have been in the JSS/US for years. I have yet to hear an issue with getting a blade back. Now it can take time to be sure but its not because they want to "take" your sword.

I have had two friends that don't know eachother in the last 20 years that got offers from Japan to purchase the swords outright, and when they refused, the polishers took over 5 years to get them back to them...although it did happen eventually.

I think 5 years is too long when the original quote was no longer than 18 months...maybe they got sick, maybe they were busy, not sure.

BTW, thanks much for participating, there are "scant few" cognoscenti that participate on the sword s/f.

Best Regards,

5 years is a long time for sure. Glad they got them back. Some of the good togi take their sweet time! I do know that if a sword has the potential for Juyo Token ranking you want the best you can get. Its sooooo expensive. Im sure there are a lot of really good swords in the US that are languishing in poor condition because of the cost.

I havent spent much time on swords in the past few years. I only have 7 swords left and some fittings. Actually a Ko-Goto kozka with papers that Im fond of. Spent a lot on books too. If you get a chance at any of the Nihonto Koza translated by Afu...they are well worth the price!

7 good swords is a LOT!! There was a piece by Yoshindo's brother in the Nombochuko style at the Anaheim exhibit a few years ago that is still burned into my memory....but I'm too rough on my swords to own a treasure, yet.

Have the 100 masterpieces, a Japanese Sword copy signed by Lonnie, and Yoshindo, the newer one, Lethal Elegance and a few others, but most of my book funds are spent on Batto, Iai Heiho and other forms of sword fighting manuals.
