Here are two blades that a friend if mine Josh Snell just finished

Some of you might remember a few years ago I posted some of his work

Well this full time Fire Fighter has come along way :)

very nice knives. The leather wrapping is beautiful.
is the dragon in red giving it's back to the hissaki?

Wicked pieces! Probably a pretty stupid question/statement here Joe, but I'm assuming both are chisel-grinds? Looks like it from the pics, but my eyes like to trick me from time to time...maybe they're just REALLY thick...I have no idea. What's the steel?

they look great

Really nice-looking, I love the way soft leather feels as a grip.

For the uninformed, what does the dragon giving it's back to the hissaki refer to ?
I know the dragon refers to the menuki.

Doug

Both look great, congrats.

Awesome dude!
Enjoy it

Yep, the menuki in this knives is a dragon, i remember i read somewhere that the menuki representing animals, in the tradition, are considered as shy, escaping, when they don't look toward the tip of the blade ;)
Of course when we build this kind of fusion pieces, we are free to steer from the tradition as we please....and these knives are very very nice!!!
