Jarvenpaa Aito puukko

I should try my hand at making my own. I've been eyeing the Enzo Nordic kits at Ben's. I'll probably move in this direction if the Aito goose-chase continues...

Harvest or buy some birch bark as well and then you can make a clone. :)

I'm moving in that direction, I think. But I want to get a little more experience with say a basic kit, then I might think about getting fancy:D

I just made one with birch bark and it was only my second handle. It was a lot easier to do than I thought it would be and if you do decide to go that route I'd be happy to pass along what I learned in the process.

Get one...you will love it. Its my current favorite..I just got a Rosselli Hunter that is awesome also...but I do love all my Javenpaa's. Gene

I sent an email to kellamknives.com, but have yet to hear back from them. Until I do, they're not getting my $. I've been burned by this game before. I should try my hand at making my own. The lady there responded to me within a few days. They carry both the leather stacked Aito and birch bark. I am not sure if they are in stock though. Here is the one I made. Not pretty, but a great user. If you can get the handle on tight enough, leather makes a great/grippy handle.

I feel this thread is turning into an "Aito watch", with all the comments being posted here lately. So I thought I'd give you all an update: Ragnar emailed me this AM, to say he was expecting a shipment of 9 Aito puukkos, but he didn't give a timeline (he did tell me "2 weeks" before, however). He thought this would put him ahead for a while. So I may have burst his bubble, I think, when I emailed back and told him I thought there was quite a demand based on what I've heard here in this thread. I can continue to update the thread if I hear more, if anyone's interested. But I intend, if nothing else, to repost on this thread with a brief review when I get mine, whenever that may be...

WOOHOO! Just put in my order with Ragnar:thumbup: I'll post pics when it gets here. When this snow goes away, I'll post up a mini-review.

I just ordered one from Ragnar Wednesday afternoon. He said he had a few just come in and had not had a chance to update the website. If you want one I would call or email him soon!
