Jason will be eligible for his MS in 2005. Before beginning his career as a bladesmith, he was a sculptor and stonecutter. The art and precision of those crafts shows beautifully in this work.

This is a classic bowie, 8.5” blade of forged 1084 with beautiful temper line, long swedge, slight recurve. 14” overall length, appr. .20” thick spine at the hilt, distal taper. Fast and light in the hand but very strong, with razor sharp Moran edge. Antique blued guard and stippled antique blued ferrule—subtle and timeless.

The handle is perhaps the most stunning achievement on this knife. It is one solid piece of beautifully sculpted walrus ivory--creamy, clear surface enamel on the right side and almost sparkling core ivory on the left side. A few small, natural checks in the left side preserve that natural look.

You’ll see no pins in this piece of ivory. Jason uses the barbed tang method to affix his handles, and he is a master of that craft. The fit and finish is flawless, and the feel of the unbroken sculpted ivory in hand is very rich.

Comes in a zippered, fleece-lined pouch—no sheath.
