Jason Knight

Wow, you have made some updates on your site!

The knife gallery is a cornucopia of knife porn!

The 5 knives are G O N E. Lasted what- 1 day????? I am not surprised.

Here's a hint for those who have not seen the knives in the metal.

They are 100 times better than the pics.

If you buy a knife from JK there is 2 things that you do not do-
1- Dont ever sell it
2- Make sure you use it- dont leave it in the safe for investment
If you break these rules you will never get another one if he finds out.
These knives are made to be used and passed down to future generations.
Own one and you will see why. They are just so freaking cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put these knives in the same catagory with Perazzi shotguns, Kimber and HK pistols, and custom made rifles.

Dear Master Jedi Night,
I hear you make light sabers. What colors do you make? I couldn't find any on your website. Let me know cause I want one really bad.
Very nice site Jason.

Jason, was a damn fine pleasure to meet you at Ashokan this year. I am going to start working on that swordblade you asked about soon, moving into a new space this weekend so will have the space to start work again on some big blades.

I visited the young Jedi master today to shoot the bovine scatology and checkout some work.

Hubba Hubba

The stuff looked great!

He textured one of my safari grade handles and now its perrrfecct

Thanks Jason.

( I think he has stopped messing around with "special" projects and intent on making moe real knives so get you orders in now because I think soon it wll be a LONG list..)

I am ordering several more as soon as I can reach Jason by phone.

Equal to or better than anything I own- Winchester21s - Rolex watches- German automobiles - you name it.

My other blades are like garden tools compared to Jason's work.

I will go out on a very small limb and say that Jason may be the best living maker in existance. IMHO. I am not alone in this opinion.

I see this guys stuff becoming more scarce and in demand.I have been lucky to pick up a few examples at shows and word of mouth.

Buy NOW if you want it. Remember the Browning Superposed 410 Diana that you didn't buy back in 1980 and now it's worth a fortune??? Same deal here.

I am a big fan of Jason and his work. He is certainly one of the best forged makers currently producing in his niche but to say he
may be the best living maker in existance. IMHO. I am not alone in this opinion.
Is downright uninformed and borderline silly. And I am a HUGE supporter of Jason and his knives. Jason himself would never dream to make those claims.

Thanks for the investment advice, but I am doing just fine on my own. I get my customs to use, not make $.

I believe that you are partly right. He makes some amazing knives, and while they make not have the bling, he is a design genius, and design geniuses have the staying power regardless of the materials they work with. He's a Shape Creator. If he continues making knives for the next couple of decades, you may be completely right. Of course, that is a totally subjective type of thing to say, but I share the wavelength:).

OK I will take the heat for my OPINION-Reckless -silly- uninformed- or whatever as stated. I stick by my statement. My friends and I will go to great lengths and expense to aquire neat stuff that we happen to like. Knight knives are definitely on the must have list. They are unavailable around this area of the country. When one pops up there are several of us fighting to buy it. A retailer in Charleston, SC would get a few pieces and immediately sell them for double Jason's price. There was a long waiting list.

Look at the Mastersmith certification in the relativley short period of recognition. Look at the awards list. Look at the newspaper article. Look at the immediate sale of the few pieces that hit this website in like a day. Look at the variety of concepts that this maker is able to pull off.

I agree that Jason would never aspire to such a claim, he is a down to earth regular guy who is a pleasure to speak and deal with. I will say again that we are looking at something really special here in terms of a craftsman. Several years from now- particulary when the economy recovers and people start spending money- my views will be shared by many more.

I ordered a ivory handle Damascus dagger from him last week. He was very excited at the prospect of making it. By the time I post my next comment- I will have at least one more of his great knives that he has nearly completed.

We have a rare opportunity at present as he is taking a few orders for new stuff. Its going to be a sad day when you call and he tells you that he is not taking any new orders. Get one (or more)while you can.

For the record- I am not buying Jason's knives to make a profit. I am buying them to enjoy using- to look at and appreciate -and to pass on to my 2 sons. They are not for sale. I am buying- not selling. I just turned down a 1200.00 offer for a very early Damasus hunting blade that he made a number of years back. My point is that if you want one- buy it now while you still can for a reasonable amount.

My knives have done a heck of a lot better lately than my 401K. If you don't want one- no problem- more for me.

+1 on your comments. Nice post. Jason can do the bling if needed- checkout the Mastersmith dagger. OMG what a blade!!!!! I had to have something similar. He is making a similar dagger for me as we speak.. However- Jason is totally into function. He makes a chopper model that will take a deer head off the body with one blow. I hope that you are fortunate enough to own and use one of his creations now or in the near future.

I have 7 of his knives and 3-4 more on order. I have put my money where my mouth is too.

Jason makes incredible fixed blade knives but his scope is very limited at this time. To call him the "world's greatest knifemaker" is a stretch but hey everyone has opinions and yours are worth just as much as anyone elses on this forum. I am thrilled you support his art as I consider Jason a true friend and a top craftsman. His knives are certainly special and deserve attention.

It is a testament to his knives that he has customers like yourself.

My friend went by Jason's place to pick up 3 knives that were ready for us. A huge Bowie,a standard drop point hunting blade which Jason had "field tested" on a few deer, and an oyster opener. The big
Bowie in particular is just plain ridiculious. The oyster knife was featured in an article in "Garden and Gun" magazine. Upscale publication kinda like a Grays journal or a Sporting Classics except with a bunch of cooking/kitchen stuff and shotguns. The oyster knife is a really neat tool and a must have if you eat roasted or raw oysters. 200.00 and well worth it if you have the need. I have mixed feelings about such side projects but if they generate cash then the results are positive. As expected- they are selling faster than he can make them.

I gave my older-24 yr old- son a 3 finger handle Damascus blade Knight for Christmas with the promise that I would use one of the others on him if he ever lost or sold it. He is an avid hunter and I am sure that he will skin many deer with it. This is the first one that I have ever parted with. I need to order another one to replace it.

If I can get a minute I will post some pics within the next few days.

I am glad that you share my appreciation for his work. In the NC/Sc/Ga area his work is getting a ton of visibility. I have 6 of his knives with more on order. I agree that his scope is limited at present but everything he does new or otherwise seems to be a high demand home run as soon as it hits the street or a magazine- as with the chopper knives. I was finally fortunate enough to get one after an agonizing search not to have to wait. I see my friends trading off some other makers examples that they "would never sell" just to get one of Jason's large Bowie blades. I will agree that the opinion is a stretch but with the passing of some other makers- Jason may very well be the heir apparent. I did not come up with this on my own. I have friends in their 60s who own safes and rooms full of knives and have owned just about every high end knife discussed on this board who are stating this opinion and buying up his stuff. Not to brag about who I know or what they have. Just like to qualify the sources. It will be fun to revisit this concept in a few years.
