This is a bowie hand-forged by Jason Wilder in Texas. I bought some rasps and mailed them to him, he forged this out, tested the hardness (there is a small dot in the blade from this) and did some chopping tests to confirm edge-holding and stability, then put handles on it.
The blade is 9" long with an 8.5" cutting edge. The clip is not sharp.
The handles are "coffee colored," or a combination of dark and light brown G10. Pins are black micarta. The handle has been shaped, rounded and smoothed for an incredibly comfortable balance and feel that belies the length of the blade. Balance is just below the guard, for a feathery feel with good snap and directional change control.
The sheath is kydex-lined leather. Fit is nice but the kydex does leave some minor rub marks and surface scratches on the blade. Not as bad as some others I have seen, but still noticeable.
The price is $250 shipped in the US, including paypal. Another bowie from this same batch went for $400, so yes, this is a bargain.
