Jack,
We received the AL Mar Shiva the day following our phone conversation, "Hoorah for USPS "Express mail"! Thanks a bunch buddy, you've made my day, week, and month!
For those of you that don't know what an Al Mar Shiva knife is, I'll describe it...a Handmade 7" beadblasted fighting "Chute" knife with asharpened upper edge and black Linen Micarta handle, as made for Al Mar by Bill Harsey back around 1990.
There were very few made, and they are exceptionally hard to find in any condition, much less New/Mint as Jack's was.
I'd been floating a "Wanted to buy" ad for a few months after exhausting all other means of finding one...and I'd looked! Shows, contacted many folks in the "Bidness", including Bill Harsey himself...no luck.
Out of the clear blue, I get this simple email from "Jaxurman" that went something like..."I have a Shiva if you want it" That was it, nothing more, nothing less...My heart jumped a bit!
Then I remembered that I'd seen the name at BFC before, and went searching...I found it in that mess about the "Rarest Balisong", and I was bummed...just about didn't respond to his email....but I bit, and asked for his phone #.
Well, after an 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Jack, I was pretty convinced that he was the "real deal" So, we agreed to trade two of my RMK's, a #18 and a #15 for his Shiva....and the deal was on.
I was really worried that something was going to go wrong, I was freaking out when the Express mail didn't come by noon as was expected. I sent a panic email at 2 PM..."Hey buddy, WTF?"
Jack said don't worry, and sent me the delivery confirmation #, "Relax" he said, "give me a call in a bit if it doesn't show up and I'll find it for ya..."
About 4 PM the USPS Express mail carrier arrived with the parcel, and her words were simply, "Sorry, I couldn't find the place"
Well, I tore into the package, and when I saw the knife, I almost fainted! Pristene! Mint! Brand spanking new! "Wow"
The man told the truth, kept his word, and was completely truthful in all aspects of the transaction.
If anyone has any doubts about the knives he lists for sale, from the condition to rarity, put your mind at rest...Jack Alvarez, aka JAXURMAN is definitly the "Real Deal!"
Now Jack, I hate to do this to ya buddy, but I miss that # 15. Any chance you'll sell it back to me?
Thanks again!
