Another flawless deal with Jack. I have bought more then 10 knives from Jack and never had a problem. I will definitely do business with him again.

Dan

...Jack has informed me that he can no longer physically keep up with the sheer volume of his ongoing knife transactions... ;)

Forthwith, I'll be filling the role of Jack's accountant/appraiser/warehouse inventorist...please forward all knives destined to Jack through me for inventory/valuation/catalog purposes.

Your consideration and assistance in facilitating this endeavor is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Melvin-Purvis Esq.

...........And then you woke up?????

You need to clarify that this is a joke, so no misunderstandings occur.

...now why don't you take Opie over to Aunt Bee's for some warm homemade apple pie...

Shhhh...."Is he gone yet?" Ok guys, listen up here, it was a JOKE!

A joke  Oh, wow ... listen, when that package arrives, please, please, just forward it to Jack, OK  I don't know how I could have misunderstood ... :(

:D

Mr. Purvis

Whether you realize it or not, some people here would
have taken your post seriously.

I know you intended it as a joke, and I'm sure most did as well.

Also, in case it escapes you, I'm doing my job here as a moderator.
Your remarks are uncalled for, and downright rude. I could have posted a 'smart assed' comment & reply to your post, but that would be both rude & unprofessional. Save the BS for W & C.

If you have issues concerning the way I moderate, feel free to e mail me, & we'll discuss them.

I'm putting you all on double secret probation -- there will be no more fun of any kind! :(

More seriously, since there has been some controversy in the past over whether Jaxurman is a dealer or not, and that question could come up again, it might not be such a bad idea to make it particularly clear that you're joking when you talk about his warehouses etc. That joke might seem reasonably clear to most people, but everything posted on the net is bound to get misinterpreted by someone, somewhere ... the most we can ever hope for is to keep misinterpretation to a minimum....

Discussion of moderation policy is always welcome on this forum, and it's much better to discuss it on the forum than in email -- email received from a few people out of thousands can give a very distorted picture of how those thousands of people are thinking. The moderators of this forum welcome open discussion of policy and how it's applied, and if one of us forgets that momentarily please regard it as a momentary lapse and try not to let it deter you.

I realize the moderator was just trying to do his moderating duties, but Melvin typed the message and included a nice big, winking smiley face. Generally, this means that it is supposed to be a joke.

...honestly, I am.

I think Jack is a, well, Jack is a unique individual...

He makes me laugh, he keeps me in quality knives, and I think he's an all around pretty swell guy. (A little strange maybe, but then that's Jack)

When I saw Mike's first post I thought he was joking, and being that that's what we doing, joking, I responded in kind.

And what happens next? In my opinion he got his panties all up in a knot...and that's a shame.

My immediate response was to tell him to go take a flying leap at the moon...but that's not right, so instead I slept on it.

I started to write a humorous response the next day, but I realized it wasn't funny, that I hadn't taken it as such, and that I wasn't going hide behind a smile...

On day 3 I started to write a very serious response to Code's fluff, about how I too had been a moderator and such...but I couldn't find a way to write buddy/buddy stuff to a person that I was starting to view as a target.

I went so far as to start a personal email to Mike, and then decided that being I had nothing nice to say, I probably shouldn't say anything at all...

Did I have a problem with his moderation? No, I didn't even know that he was a moderator, and if I did, I probably still wouldn't have given a flying rip.

Do I have a problem with him personally? I didn't before this. Hell, I barely knew he existed.

By and large, the moderators here do a fine job, no complaints there....and yes, this all has to be out in the open.

So Cougar, I'll tell ya what I finally ended up with, frustration.

Frustration that's going to manifest itself in some bizarre fashion down the road, some underlying bitterness and anger will spill out...or possibly apathy, just a shutdown and lack of continued interest in the going's on here.

I think that's refered to as 'Burn-out', and it happens to the best of us.

Am I ticked because the mean Mr. 3 hurt my feelings? C'mon...lol Nah, it's more just the baseness of having to explain in detail every aspect of every comment I type.

The simple fact is, not everyone is supposed to get everything. If a person needs to be told, in a very slow voice, "Iiittt'ss aaa jjjoookkkeee..." They probably don't get it anyway. "Get it?"

That being said, and for the record, "Code 3, pack sand"

Now, I'm gonna go find something more interesting to do with my time.

I still WANT that whiplash. I am STILL 100 bucks light due to my son's attempt to drive his Jeep on it's roof during Thanksgiving. He is unhurt, he learned a VALUABLE lesson. That is to roll over on an off-ramp and then have Mom and Dad kick in the difference from Insurance to buy an Xterra:( :(
BUT, I got the last laugh. I was able to keep my 300 buck knife money to go to Jack, and NOW my son drives a NEW and BEAUTIFUL SCHOOL-BUS YELLOW Xterra:p :p :p ;) Ira
Thanks for being patient, and if Jack WERE a DEALER, he would have moved this knife a Month ago!!!!!!;)

I thought this issue died a few days ago.

Ok, gang, I posted what I did because there are some people out here that might not understand that Mel was joking, and I just wanted it clarified so there wouldn't be any misunderstandings. Period.

I did not intend to see this carried any further than that, and I certainly didn't mean or want to get anyone's feathers in a ruffle. I merely wanted something clarified. Thats it. No harm, no foul.

I apologize if you misread my intentions. This is an example of how things can be misinterpreted, smiley faces or not.

Let's drop this, please, and get on with enjoying the forums!

Thanks! :)
