Did he get banned or did all us meanies run him off? Could'nt
stand to read his rambling posts but kinda miss the fireworks!
LOL

He didn't get banned. Rather than answer Spark's question he stopped posting here. Or maybe he had some other reason....

Jack has emailed me a few times since his departure from BladeForums. He wrote that he was going to take a break from the forums for a while. He felt it was becoming open season on Jaxurman and was no longer interested in having to defend himself almost every day.

From what he emailed me, he has communicated with Spark privately and explained his situation and has also answered the question that was asked. From what he stated to me it is obvious that he is the Jack from the Oregon Knife Club articles. In one of his emails he basically admitted to it but said that no one could put him behind a table at a knife show since 1997 when he quit being an active dealer.

I doubt that Jack will make an appearance just so that you can enjoy him being raked over the coals some more. We may see him again one day and we may not. I am sure that there are many on this forum that are not shedding any tears about him not being here. I am not shedding any tears myself, but I wouldn't mind seeing him back either.

i heard from him too, basically the same stuff, felt everyone had ganged up on him, he really is a good guy at heart, loves knives, gets carried away sometimes, too bad about all the fuss imho

will he be back? i dont think so, not for a long time if ever, i think he still checks stuff out occasionally on BF, i dont ever see him on USN, or the other knife forum either(?, what is it), which he did used to post on some

is he a dealer? who cares, BTDT over and over and over again, a dead issue imho

too bad, once ya get to know him he's pretty cool.....but oh well, life goes on for all.....

Not meaning to single out Jack, but this is the perfect opportunity to ask this question.

What is it with making a big deal about people after they run their mouths like horses a$$es here, get called on it, get their feelings hurt, then 'leave' the forums?

People seem to get "ganged up on" when they ask for it. If you can't take the heat stay out of the fire. I've yet to see anyone here get beat up for posting polite commentary.

This is not directed solely at Jack, although he fits in the category.

Brandon

edited because I hit submit before I finished my thought

Brandon, you are correct. If people ask for it they should get some heat. What I notice about this forum at times though is that even when people don't ask for it they get flamed anyhow. It seems that there is bit of a mob mentality every once in a while, and as you know mobs seem to enjoy a public lynching.

I have nothing against people posting that they do not agree with what someone else is doing. When it becomes a flame war with insults being thrown around, that is when I think it has gone way to far.

I'm not taking anyone's side but..........

I've watched from the sidelines, as I know many of us have, and I've got to say that Jack and I had many great dealings, talked at length on the telephone with no yelling, cussing, etc..., and had a pretty good time all the way around. Hell, Jack even let me take a couple of months to pay for the most expensive knife that I ever bought and I had it in hand from day one!

Jack is a one-of-a-kind chacter, good or bad, and it's too bad that he rubbed a number of folks the wrong way.

To each their own but I never had any problems with him.........

I have stayed out of the whole jax thing although I have watched it. I will say that I met jax at the Show in cambridge ohio last year and it so happens that he lives in my home town. I was not sure of him after all the stuff from here but at the show he was very civil although he did come across a little as a "playa" but likable. The thing that really stands out for me is that while I was out to eat one night he actually recognized me and came back into the resturant to say hey, he did not "want" anything other than just say hello. That sorta impressed me because I am more of working class and he runs in circles I never have and I was even in grubby outdoor clothes just done with work. I ran into him one other nite and actually I brought up the knife for sale topic and he was totally laid back. No cussing- no pressure- just my experiance...

Keith, I don't believe I said that I enjoyed seeing him "raked
over the coals". I just found the back and forth repartee amusing, particulary by those who got their knickers in a twist over whether or not he is/was a dealer even after Spark made his position on the matter clear. That was the first time I've posted regarding the Jaxurman controversy and was curious about his status. I think you read too much into my inquiry or misinterpreted my intent.

The bottom line is we lost a good market maker. The guy was doing a good job for us in the exchange forum. I don't know what happened via private email, or telephone. But, I suspect the same people are going to come to regret that they could not work things out.

Richard, sorry if I misinterpreted what you posted. I took your posting that you missed the fireworks as meaning that you enjoyed the threads where Jack got a liberal dose of being racked over the coals, as those were the only ones that included any fireworks.

My point was that Jack would not want to return to BladeForums to provide enjoyment to those that miss the fireworks since he has left.

I do understand what you mean about the back and forth repartee being entertaining, but I would rather have Jack back as a contributing member of the forums than to see more of the old fireworks. The only real problems that I had with Jack were that he did not feel that he should be bothered actually contributing anything and that he tended to harass and try to intimidate people on the phone and in emails. There is no place for that anywhere, let alone on BladeForums.

I would cretainly welcome Jack back if he deals with these issues and gets rid of his "Big Playa" routine. It is just that I am not sure he is capable of, or even wants to do this.

Others have left BladeForums in the past and I find that I miss some of them. I kind of miss Jack as well, but the forums will go on with or without him and if all he wants to do is trade, buy and sell knives then his departure is not really that big a deal. Not like he ever wanted to pass along some of that great store of knowledge about knives that he must have gathered over the years anyway.

Keith, no need for apologies. Just wanted to make sure you did'nt think I enjoyed the bashing, just the exchanges that ensued. I'm not one to kick a man when he's down and for that reason never joined in the affray.
Take care,

Does anyone have Jack's email address. I did a trade with
him a few weeks ago and it went super-he was so gracious and
I would like to tell him that again. Did not save his email
address or his phone number-dumb me.

Oh-duh-I guess Jaxurman is his email address-I think-I will
check it out.

Nobodys perfect, NOBODY.............and he has some faults just like all of us......but I dont think the personal attacks were justified, in fact I dont think they EVER are towards anyone. This is a public forum and we all need to behave like adults. IMHO of course.

it reminded me of when you see sharks on the Discovery channel smelling blood in the water. I never had any dealings with him,but I would have had the opportunity arose & I certainly could not have complained afterwords, his faults were certainly out in the open for all to see. I also could have just as easily made the decision to ignore him had I wanted & certainly would never have presumed I knew so much about him I should insert myself between him & Spark with my 'advice'. I would prefer him to still be around, but then I still miss Razor also.

If you want to check out what Razor is doing these days go to the link below. He is back, just not here.

Sharp Phil

Since Razor's real name is Phil he is going by the handle, Sharp Phil.
