I have been eyeballing the JBOutman canoes on ebay. They look pretty good for the price. Has anyone had any experience with them? Are they built good with good blade snap? Country of origin? Blade steel? Thanks for the help.

Look like a kind of no name company that sells cheap knives. I would assume they're manufactured in china. Steel probably varies from production run to production run, since I can't find it listed anywhere. For around the same price maybe check out a shrade old timer or a buck 110. You'll know the steel, and have an actually company to contact for warranty claims and such.

Good advice. Thanks.

Hold up! I don't know about the knives under their brand name but know about JBOutman. They are a sizeable wholesaler for several knife brands and I used to source from them a lot. Always first rate service from them as well. So I am pretty sure they will stand behind their product. Don't know about what sort of quality the knives under their brand are.
