This is a Small Slip-Joint Folding Knife with a 2-3/8” flat ground blade. Blade has been differentially hardened with a clay coating resulting in a fully hardened edge, softer spine and a visible “Hamon” - transition line between hard and softer steel. Belt satin finish with a “French Grey” treatment. Blade and spring are of 3/32” W2 steel.

The handle is beautiful Red Deer Horn from Yucatan that I process myself. Closed length - 3.5” including the lanyard loop. Nickel Silver liners, pins and file-worked bolsters. Silver 1925 ten-centavo escutcheon. Spine of blade with thumb grooves and geometric file-work. Handmade leather pocket sheath. $350 (SOLD) (including FedEx economical insured to US, Canada or Mexico. $15 extra to most of EU. By quote elsewhere)

If you'd like, I can engrave up to three initials in the Coin Silver Escutcheon for an additional $25

The knife opens with a medium-easy pull and can be pinched open. Backspring is flush open and closed and has no half-stop. Supplied shaving sharp.

The French Grey finish offers some stain resistance to the W2 carbon steel, but the knife should be kept well oiled or waxed.

I am a full time knifemaker working in Merida, Yucatan Mexico. I ship knives internationally on a regular basis via FedEx. I accept Paypal and credit cards.

I use almost exclusively local handle materials that I gather and mill or process myself. Dense tropical hardwoods as well as wild and ranched deer, cow, bull and water buffalo horns.

The silver escutcheons are made from old Mexican silver coins and are pinned through the liners. You can still see some of the surface irregularities of the coins. All of the pins are nickel silver and are hammered over and left slightly proud of the handle. The decorative file work and carving are precise and carefully done, but you can also see that it was done by hand – I don’t sand or polish the file-cuts.

Thanks for looking

Thanks Jeff .... been waiting a long time to score one of your knives ... and this one is perfect for me!!

Thanks for the kind words. This knife is sold.

Been a while since I last posted a knife for sale. I've been working on orders the last year, as well as moving into my new workshop. We built the workshop (and house) in Cholul. Cholul is a small pueblo on the northern edge of Merida, Yucatan. Still feels like a pueblo though, and most days you can smell the wood fires that people cook their meals with. Here's a photo of part of the shop. The high ceilings and stone walls are traditional here, and so are the tall wooden doors - the upper sections are screened to let in the breeze.

Jeff,
ABSOLUTELY a WORK OF ART, GREAT QUALITY KNIFE.
The layout of the pins remind me of the tacks on the Winchester rifles used by the Native Americans.
It is nice to see You post on the exchange, I hope all is going well.

Dennis,
Welcome to the Club, You got a FANTASTIC FOLDER.

Glad the knife arrived safely and that you're pleased. FedEx economical has been super-fast lately; less than 24 hours from my door in Mexico to yours in the US!
Thanks again for your patronage

T The Shatz - this is a thread from 2016 and I don't think you'll be seeing much of Jeff on BF these days. Go to his web site and contact him through there. He is very responsive. AND YES he makes beautiful knives. Good luck.

Ray
