Even dry, it will dirty the wood from the dust.
I don't use Sic sandpaper on wood for that reason.

I tend to use the regular stuff from the paint dept in most home improvement stores.
That goes up to 400 grit and then I will go through finer and finer grits of sanding block til I hit the polishing blocks (1k+ for highly figured or woods with high chatoyance).

Gee- you mean I have been doing it wrong for all these years?
I have never had a problem with SC automotive paper staining wood.

Always wash your new jeans before wearing them. I always do; never know what country/crap/dyes/etc. is in the material.

FWIW, I've had this happen with jeans that have already been washed multiple times.

Definitely, maybe wash them twice to be sure. Not just jeans, Even t-shirts can sometimes bleed colour when they are new. When i was a kid i got caught in a rainstorm and was soaked, my new black t shirt was definitely not colour-fast,lol. I had to take a very long shower when i got home to clean/scrub off all the blotchy dye spots.
