I picked up a Jeep hatchet at Big 5 Sporting Goods but couldn't find any info online about it. However, it looks just like the Kershaw Camp Axe:

But the Kershaw is made of high carbon in Taiwan, and the Jeep is made of 440A in China. Strange. The Jeep hatchet looks and feels good only the edge grind is sloppy. I will file the edge better then test this thing to see if how well the heat treat and temper is -- or if it even has been heat treated.

Will post results.

The first test went well. I chopped some seasoned hardwood and a dry 2 by 6. It took nice bites out of the wood and seemed to hold a edge. The rubber handle works ok.
