I'm in a Moderator nominating mood. (See Testing and Reviews) Jeff is a wilderness survival expert who specializes in primitive jungle skills. He is also a survival knife designer, tester, and writer. He has his own jungle adventure training and guiding business. I think his unique area of expertise would compliment our already excellent group of moderators. ( I know Ron Hood has jungle experience but he isn't on this board too much anymore) Besides all of this, he is also one of the most down to earth and classy persons I have ever had the pleasure of talking to. (Through email) I know Jeff has his own board and is a very busy guy, but he seems to be able to pop in here quite a bit. Perhaps as a Moderator, we could make him come here even more. What do you say guys?

I do appreciate the post, but I really dont have time to do it. Got a lot going on with my regular job in telecommunications as well as putting trips together and trying to get articles finished up that I'm way behind on. Plus I'm working through some personal matters at the time.

Matter of fact, I'm staying behind on the March military school / Andes trip. Mike Perrin and Darryl Patton are running this one and are very experienced and capable. This will be the first jungle trip I have missed in 5 years. I'm just stretched for time right now. I will be doing the 1 week knife only survival event in July and the December Costa Rica seminar though, but other than that I just have no time, and hopefully Steve Dick doesn't kick me off the magazine's masthead for being past deadline

Thanks for the post though...it is much appreciated and I do try to jump on here when I have the time. Great forums and good folks!

What with the miracles of modern technology, I'm sure we could surgically implant a satellite relay and simple web viewer in Jeff, maybe along with a GPS locator so he could see where he was lost. Then we'd have a superb moderator who could also e-mail in his assignments.

That SEEMS plausible Alberta Ed, but picture Jeff at his Knife Only seminar:

Jeff: You are allowed your knife and your shoe laces, thats it ladies and gentlemen.

Crowd: Um.... what about that GPS unit and the modem surgically implanted in your skull Jeff?

Jeff: Oh yeah, I forot about that! Well, um, I'll turn it off. I promise!

OK Jeff,

The personal stuff I'll buy. Hopefully that all gets worked out for the better, but the professional stuff, now that's another matter.

Greg and Brian are here quite a bit to check on day to day stuff and since you do pop in here from time to time, that's all we need. Having your name up there would add more draw to the place. I feel that this is one of the best places anywhere (not just on the net) for down to earth real world discussion of survival skills. We've all been to the TEOTWAWKI survival sites that can get to be pretty ridiculous at times. If I had to pick one word that describes this place it would be "ClassAct". (I can make that into one word can't I?) When I "meet" people on the net, whether they be hunters or muskie fisherman or other survivalists, I always direct them here. I brag about our moderators and the intelligent people who hang out here. Your name on the opening page can only enhance their first experience here. As I stated earlier, you have a different perspective on survival skills that compliments our current moderators very well. Think it over. Obviously, it's not my decision to make you a moderator, but I thought I would throw the idea out there. The responses have all been positive so far. You must not be making too many enemies Jeff.
