First I would like to thank Dan Petersen for demonstrating how to do a jelly roll while at The Heartland Symposium which is how I started this billet. I started with two 1/4" pieces of Aldo's 1084 with four pieces (between the 1084) of .065" 15N20. I then welded and drew into a bar 2" wide and tapered on both ends. I then jelly rolled it. Welded & drew out square long enough to cut into four pieces. I then welded it 2x2 and drew out into a bar. I then cut & flipped it.
This I welded on either side of a core of 1/4" 1084 sandwiched by two pieces of .065" 15N20.
The jelly roll distorted a bit as I smithed the bevels & distal taper but I feel like it gave it an interesting design.
The handle is sambar with fittings of 416 & brass (blade is 9" & OAL is 13 /12").
What do you think?
Note: Though the photo doesn't show it, there is a butt cap of 416 & brass. The balance of the guard distorted a bit in the photography. I will get a better picture from Chuck Ward soon.
Hope you enjoy it as I had a lot of fun with this one.
